Colville High volleyball coach Missy Bennett holds up WIAA championship trophy hardware after the Indians downed Castle Rock Saturday night. Bennett has gotten close to a state title before, getting two teams in her 20-plus year run to the championship. “I think I’ll hold on to this for awhile,” she said.

A Royal bummer: Knights come from behind to beat Colville

In a game played alternately in rain and snow, Royal came from behind in the second half to post a wild 38-35 win over host Colville Saturday afternoon and advance to the quarterfinals of the State 1A football playoffs. Colville’s (5-5) unlikely run into the playoffs after an 0-4 start looked like it might continue after the Indians took an early 14-0 lead.

Dance, dance, dance!

Northern Dance Theatre will present its Christmas show Joys of Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. on the Colville High School auditorium stage. Join Northern Dance Theatre as they embrace the tradition of commemorating the season of hope with music and dance. Old favorites, contemporary vocalists, and instrumental music will fill the night, according to director, Laura Golphenee. “Light and lovely costumes and sparkling dancers will twirl away the sugar plums and eggnog from too many holiday parties,” Golphenee said.

Louise Ruth Jones, a long time resident of Colville, passed away on Nov.12, 2011. She was born in Rodeo, CA. on March 23, 1924. She lived in San Francisco for over 20 years raising her children. She met and married Buzz Jones and they moved to Reno, NV. And lived there for over 10 years.
In 1977 she and Buzz moved to Colville and built their home in the Cedar Creek area. Buzz and Louise were married for over 45 years. She was very close to the Lord and was a member of the Northport Baptist Church.
