Leona Whiteman Kilmer, 101, of Colville, died August 9, 2011. Born in Jasper, New York on august 10, 1909, she was the daughter of Charles and Ella Woodward Whiteman. She obtained a two year Normal School Teaching Degree from Geneseo Normal School in 1932 and a BS in Elementary Education at Geneseo State College in 1958. She enjoyed learning and continued to take classes throughout her life.
Kenneth Morton Eberhard was born October 8, 1922. He passed away August 14, 2011. Ken was born in Boston, MA to Walter and Margaret Eberhard. While attending MIT in Cambridge, MA, he joined the United States Army and proudly served as a Second Lieutenant during WWII. Once the war ended, he returned to MIT and obtained his civil engineering degree in 1947. He then went on to earn his teaching certificate at the University of Washington.
Everett E. Williams passed away August 9, 2011 in Spokane. He was born November 21, 1928 in Darlington, Idaho to Edward and Minnie (Wallace) Williams. He moved often, growing up and therefore attended many schools. He graduated in Deer Park. After high school, Everett joined the Air Force, where he also took college classes. He then became the manager of Sprouse-Reitz stores in the Hillyard and Garland locations of Spokane before moving to Colville to manage the Sprouse-Reitz. In 1978, he and his wife, Marilyn, bought the Fonkâ€™s 5Â˘-$1.00 store and changed it to Fonks Pet and Variety.
Earl John Davenport passed away on August 13, 2011 in Spokane at the age of 82. He was born on August 18, 1928 in Clayton, the son of Leo W. and Olive (Erickson) Davenport.
Earl moved to Colville with his parents as a young child. He attended school at Colville until he joined the Coast Guard at the age of 17. When Earl was discharged from the Coast Guard, he attended Farragut College. He worked for the Forestry Department and the telephone company in Spokane. This is where he met Serena â€śDollyâ€ť (Calvert). They were married in March, 1948.
