Second half rally comes
up short
Colville High saw its opportunity to make the State Hardwood Classic âFinal 8â field this week in Yakima blown apart by an ugly start in last Friday nightâs âSweet 16â regional match-up against third-ranked Naches Valley at Yakimaâs East Valley High School.
February 28th
INCHELIUMâThe third annual Katie Mae LeaderCharge five on five coed basketball tournament will be held at Inchelium High School March 17-18.
The tournament is designed for players of all ages. One female must be on the court at all times (eight-person roster).
Overall MVP awards will be given out (men and women). There will also be a three-point shooting contest.
Entry fee is $300 (pay now or pay before your team gets to play). Checks payable to Shelley or Leonard LeaderCharge.
All proceeds will go to the Katie Mae LeaderCharge memorial scholarship.
Wilson Creek
overwhelmed by CHS
Columbia High (25-1) got a combined 70 points from Elizabeth Larrew, Lindsay Loe and Krista Colvin in a 77-11 crushing of overmatched Wilson Creek (9-11) in a State 1B girlâs regional game last Saturday afternoon at Shadle Park High School in Spokane.
The win earns CHS, whose only loss this season to date was to Class 2B state favorite and two-time defending state champion Reardan, a date at the Class 1B Hardwood Classic in the Spokane Arena March 1-3.
CHS will open the 1B tournament Thursday at 7:15 p.m. against little known Northwest Yeshiva.
Peter Moore was born August 21, 1949 and passed away Feb. 21, 2012.
Peter was born Peter Ray Moore in Fargo, N.D., to Robert and Marlowe Moore. He was raised in Southern California and lived for the past 15 years in the Colville area. He now resides in heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and has been joined by friends and family who have gone before him.
Lois Anna Jackson, 61, a longtime resident of Kettle Falls, passed away at her home, February 21, 2012. She was born on June 11, 1950, the daughter of Gaylord and Edith (Hatfield) Wandling.
Lois was born in Twisp and attended school in WinÂŹthrop. In 1966, she moved with her family to Chewelah. There she graduated from Jenkins High School in 1968. A year later, she married Asa Jackson and together they raised their three daughters.
Tri-County Senior Nutrition said last week that it will be participating in the national 2012 March For Meals campaign. Tri-County Senior Nutritionâs March For Meals event will include school kids penny campaign and walk-a-thon, Hospitalâs Basket Raffle, Eagles Dinner Fund Raiser, Saturday, March 3, 5 to 7 p.m., Soup/Chili Cook-Off, Mayorâs delivering meals, other events still in planning and a Colville Walk-A-Thom on March 22.

Dennis âDennyâ G. Wuesthoff, Sr., a resident of Nine Mile Falls, passed away on Feb. 17, 2012 in Yuma, AZ. Denny was born on Oct. 31, 1938 in Chewelah, the son of George Ernest and Gladine (Williams) Wuesthoff.
One thing that everyone who knew him can agree, Michael Lynn Warren had a smile and a good word for everyone. He was taken by his God on Feb. 25, 2012.Â
Born in Phoenix, AZ on Sept. 5, 1953 to a preacher and a homemaker, he lived in many states before settling in Manteca, CA, where he attended Manteca High.
Sharon âSheriâ Rosella Campuzano, a seven-year resident of the Flat Creek area of Kettle Falls, passed away on Feb. 24, 2012 in Colville at the age of 73. She was born on Oct. 7, 1938 in Bakersfield, CA, the daughter of Chester and Meriom (Page) Durham.
Stanley âStanâ M. Hallam, a lifetime resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on Feb. 21, 2012 in Kettle Falls at the age of 70. He was born in Colville on August 27, 1941, the son of Loyal Ivan and Ellen Olivia (Hockersmith) Hallam.
