As expected, last Saturday nightâs showdown for the State girlâs 1B basketball championship came down to a battle of the top rankedâthree time defending champion Colton and Columbia High (28-2).
Columbia, putting together another brilliant campaign under head coach Mindy Flett, simply couldnât overcome the Colton juggernaut, losing 55-47.
With the win, Colton continues to breathe in some rarified air. There are very few teams that win one state championship, much less four in succession.
