CHS boys, girls
finish in top 10
The Colville High boy’s and girl’s track and field teams put a cap on a very successful season last Friday and Saturday at the State 1A track and field championships at Eastern Washington University’s Woodward Stadium.
Highlight of the meet for the Indians was the state championship turned in by the 4x100 relay team (Mackayla McLaughlin, Malia Luu, Chelsea Phillips and Tasha Luu).
Earl second in discus
Jenkins High School sent seniors Zack Schnieder and Makayla Earl to the State 1B/2B/1A track and field championships at Eastern Washington University last Friday and Saturday.
For Schnieder and Earl, it was a weekend to remember.
Schnieder set three JHS hurdles’ records, and earned a third place medal in the 300- meter hurdles before capturing a coveted state championship in the 110 meter hurdles.
On Friday, Schnieder won both preliminary races--in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.94 and in the 300 with a time of 39.49.
Connell rallies in the ninth to win
Colville came agonizingly close to capturing the school’s first state fast-pitch softball championship last Saturday afternoon at Columbia Playfield in Richland.
But like last spring, when Connell edged the Indians in the State 1A semifinals in Spokane, the Eagles broke a few more Colville hearts with a heart-stopping 4-3 championship game win in nine innings.
Close…oh, so close.
