Margaret Pauline Merle, 90, died August 4, 2012 at a local assisted living home in Meridian, Idaho. Arrangements by Boise Funeral Home, Aclesa Chapel.
Wayne Marvin Grandle, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Aug. 2, 2012 in Spokane at the age of 96. Wayne was born on September 14, 1915 in Monmouth, KS the son of George Lewis and Aura (Morgan) Grandle.
Fred Lee Lotze passed away at his home on August 12, 2012 after a battle with cancer. He and his twin brother Ted were born on April 8, 1934 to Harry O. and Jesse (Welch) Lotze in Colville. He was the grandson of Stevens County pioneers and Onion Creek homesteaders Ernst and Marie (Najork) Lotze. He attended school at Onion Creek through grade eight and graduated from Northport High School with the class of 1953. In 1951 Fred’s father was fatally injured in a logging accident and his mother passed away shortly afterwards from a stroke.
David “Dave” Francis Stensgar, a lifetime resident of Inchelium, passed away on August 10, 2012 while visiting the Two Rivers Casino near Fort Spokane. Dave was born on November 29, 1931 in Inchelium, the son of Fredrick and Mary (Meusy) Stensgar.
Jenkins’ High School’s (Chewelah) Snyder Field will be the beneficiary of this old Eastern Washington University (Roos Field) scoreboard. The 23-year-old scoreboard was disassembled last week and will make way for a new scoreboard and video display that will be in place for Eastern’s Sept. 29 home opener against Big Sky rival Montana.
