Football practice starts August 15 for Colville High

Indians move
to GNL

Pre-season practice sessions for the Colville High football team will get underway on Wednesday, August 15, according to head coach Randy Cornwell.
The Indians will run two-a-day practice sessions every other day, Cornwell said. Wednesday’s opener will be a two-a-day session.
On the two-a-day practice schedule, sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On the one practice a day format, practice will be from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The first three practice sessions are mandatory “helmets only.”

Wayne Grandle

Wayne Grandle, age 96, a resident of Colville, passed away on August 2 in Colville. Wayne is survived by his daughter, JoAnn Zoodsma and her husband, Larry, Colville; son, Marvin Grandle and his wife, Vida, Molalla, OR; sister Maxine Grandle, Columbus, KS; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Wayne Grandle will begin at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Colville.

Danael Dorman

Danael D. M. Dorman of Colville passed away in his family’s home, on July 10 at the age of 23.
He was born in Doylestown, PA and lived in Richlandtown, PA and later near Colville.

Charles Curtis

August 8, 2012

Charles Ray Curtis passed away at his home in Lehi, Utah on August 1, 2012 at the age of 84. He was born the son of Ray Lawrence and Ida Faye Curtis on Dec. 6, 1927 in Palouse. He graduated from Colville High School and later married Elizabeth May Gallaway.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a jack of all trades, working as an electrician, saw filer, mechanic and millwright with Arden Lumber. He worked for 12 years as a millwright at Northwest Alloys, Inc. He taught hydraulics at Spokane Community College.

Bonnie Chamberlain

Bonita “Bonnie” Jane Chamberlain, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Aug. 2, 2012 in Colville at the age of 90. Bonnie was born on May 14, 1922, in Colville, the daughter of Ellis Harold Conner and Alvena Freida (Wilken) Conner.
Bonnie was raised in Colville, where she attended school and graduated in 1940 as a twelve-year senior from Colville High School.
Following high school, she began work at the Bell Telephone Company. A year later, she took a sales clerk position at Bar¬man’s Department Store, where she worked for the next four years.

Alma Barrans

Alma Lea Barrans passed away on August 4, 2012 at the age of 79. She was born the daughter of George Albert and Edna (Clarke) Parker on Jan. 14, 1933 in Chewelah. Alma Lea attended and graduated from high school in Chewelah, Class of 1950. She met Delmar Barrans in 1944, and the two were married on June 14, 1951 in Chewelah.

Marion Clark

Marion Grace Clark, longtime resident of the Kettle Falls area, passed away on July 17, 2012 in her home at the age of 80. Marion was born on July 4, 1932 in Republic, the daughter of Ralph Thomas and Bessie (Edwards) Mellor.
She attended school in Republic and graduated as a 12-year senior in 1950. Marion later moved to Wenatchee and worked in the packing houses during the harvest season. While there, she began a family. They relocated to the Kettle Falls area in the mid-1960’s.

James Stoudt Jr.

Chief James D. Souudt, Jr. passed away at his home with his family around him on July 28, 2012, one week and one day before his 75th birthday.
He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1954 and retired in 1974. He worked several lifeboat stations on the Oregon Coast, and on the Northwind Ice Breaker from 1960-1962. He also did two tours in Vietnam on the Basswood, a buoy tender in Guam.

Joanne Hughes

Mom is gone, but everyone who knew her will always hold a happy memory of her in their hearts. She died July 28, 2012 at the age of 91, in Colville, where she resided these last several years.
Jeanne d’Arc Ollie Marguerite Hebert, always known as Joanne, was born October 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the middle of three children. Her family moved to California when she was an infant and she grew up on her family’s San Mateo estate, “Villa Lucia.”
Her interests growing up were horseback riding, sailing, fishing, as well as duck and upland bird hunting.
