Philip G. Hildebrand, 83, of Rathdrum, Idaho passed away August 31, 2012 in Coeur dâAlene. Philip was born May 18, 1929 in Rhinelander, WI to Joseph and Cora (Champion) Hildebrand. He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from RhiÂnelander High School in 1947. He attended the University of Wisconsin and Michigan School of Mining and Technology, where he graduated with a degree in Forestry in 1953.
He married Dawn Dernbach of Rhinelader, WI on August 26, 1950 and they had two children. They were divorced in 1974.
Ronna Jean Carter went to Heaven on Sept. 1, 2012 at the age of 67. Ronna was born on Sept. 4, 1944 in Colville, the daughter of Eldon and Olga Lydia (Dehning) Carter.
She graduated as a twelve-year senior of Colville High School in 1962. On June 21, 1963, Ronna married Fred Pierce. They had two sons, Kirk and Sean. The family lived in Colville and later built a home on 20 acres in Arden. There, Ronna had horses that she loved to spend time riding and taught the boys to ride. They enjoyed riding with her until they found that they liked motorcycles better.
Mark Alan Webb, 49, was taken from us Sept. 3, 2012 near Roy, in a truck rollover accident.
Mark was born to Richard and Fay Webb June 24, 1963 and was raised in the Vancouver area, where he also met and married his wife, Beryl in 1996. After a few trips to the Colville Valley to visit Berylâs family in Chewelah, they decided to move here. He settled with his wife and family on a little mini-ranch at Arden.
Raymond Charles Mattison finished a long and useful life on August 7, 2012. He passed peacefully in the home he built, while surrounded by his family.
Ray was born on Sept. 8, 1932 in Gerome to Melvin and Freda Mattison. He graduated from Columbia High School (Hunters) in 1951, then joined the U.S. Navy in 1952. He was stationed in Hawaii and was honorably discharged in 1956.
In 1959 he settled down in Alderwood Manor, used his master carpenter skills to build his own home, and started a family.
Funeral services for Gerald âJerryâ Stevens, age 71, of Thatcher, was conducted Sept. 8 at the Church Street LDS Chapel, with Bishop David Udall officiating. Interment followed in the Thatcher Cemetery.
âThe Flyinâ Hawaiianâ, Mr. John Bremner âJ.B.â Morrison, passed away on August 28, 2012 in Seattle at the age of 61. John was born on Feb. 24, 1951 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of John Aina and Priscilla Keakealani (Mahoe) Morrison.
He was raised in the Valley of Nuuanu and attended the Kamehameha School, from which J.B. was a proud alumni. At the age of 13, J.B. moved to Long Beach, CA where he resided with his father and completed his high school education in 1969.
Helen Marie Behrens, a longtime resident of the Kelly Hill area near Barstow, passed away in Spokane at the age of 85. Helen was born on April 25, 1927 in Marcus, the daughter of Elbert Glen and Julia Margaret (Anderson) Delp.
Virginia L. Cruger, 88, passed away August 25, 2012 in Colville.
This is what she would have wanted her family and friends to know about her: âI was born Dec. 13, 1923 in Spokane. My father came to the United States from Belfast, Ireland as a child. In 1919 he married my mother, Helen Virginia Craig.
I attended Grant Grade School and Lewis and Clark High School. After graduation, I worked for John W. Graham Company.

Indians dominate Lakeland Invite
Colville Highâs defending 1A volleyball champions dominated last Saturdayâs high-powered Lakeland Invitational (Rathdrum, Idaho) volleyball tournament. It was Colvilleâs second straight Lakeland Invitational title.
Cougars get an
elusive win over Indians
The Chewelah Cougars played the Colville Indians last Friday in the annual 395 showdown in Colville. The Cougars broke a recent string of losses to the Indians on this evening, coming away with an impressive 45-21 victory.
Turnovers in an opening game loss to Deer Park were costly to the Cougars, but on this night, Chewelah kept ahold of the ball and turned three Colville turnovers into key scoring drives.
