Chewelah swept by league-leading ML

Time to regroup
after Spring Break

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Chewelah Cougars baseball team, starting with a 10-0 blanking of Newport and followed by a doubleheader sweep of Riverside.
The Spring Break finished on a down note when the Cougs were swept on the road in two games by Medical Lake.
The Cougars look to re-establish their momentum and focus this week on moving up in the Northeast A League baseball standings.

After invitational meets at Colville (Ezra Gordon Invitational) and the Deer Park Invite prior to the Spring Break, Kettle Falls High will get into the meat of its spring meet schedule starting this week.
The Bulldogs will travel to Nine Mile Falls and Lakeside High School on Wednesday for a Northeast A League meet with the Eagles and Chewelah. That meet gets underway at 3:30 p.m.

No ‘Spring Break’ for
busy CHS

In a wacky, strange piece of scheduling and rescheduling that saw the streaking Colville High softball team (10-1) play seven games in an eight-day stretch during the so-called Spring Break, the Indians and rubber-armed pitcher McKenna Cabbage thrived.
Spring Break? Not for CHS.
The Indians, 9-0 in Great Northern League play and two games clear of second place West Valley and Deer Park, got shutout performances from Cabbage in five of those seven games.

Colville baseball team looks for a little Mojo

It has been a tough stretch for the Colville High baseball team. The Indians (2-7) have lost six straight in the tough Great Northern League and head into the post-Spring Break portion of their schedule looking for a little Mojo and some good fortune.
“The most important thing right now is that our team believes that we’re going to start winning soon,” CHS head coach Boo Morrison said of his team’s rough stretch. “Baseball is a crazy game. We’re not getting any balls to bounce our way right now and we’re not catching any breaks.

Indians may be the league surprise

Colville High (6-4) has been more than competitive to date in the rigorous Great Northern League 2A soccer race.
Yes, hindsight is always a 20/20 proposition, but just think where the Indians would be if they were situated where student enrollment numbers indicate that they should be—in the Northeast A League.
Like we said, hindsight and better accounting practices are always 20/20. Maybe the math will be more accurate on the next WIAA student count.
But we digress.
