The Kettle Falls community has started its own fledgling youth recreation program. Privately underwritten Kettle Falls Community Athletics will get started with a youth soccer program, according to KFCA President, Chance Morris.
Morris said that the non-profit KFCA has upwards of 80 youngsters signed up for its first programâyouth soccer.
Wrestling club will disband
at the end of August
The Basement Boys program started in 1985 with coaches Denny Reddinger and Monty Jones. The program was called the Hermiston Offroad Stingers.
The club wrestled all three styles and traveled throughout Washington and Oregon. In 1990, the club became the Basement Boys when Monty and Shelley Jones started traveling with their son, Dustin, Sean Riley and many others.
This was the driving force to keep the club alive at the time.
Another sign that summer is almost over is the start of fall sports practices at area high schools.
The first day of fall sports practice sessions for cross-country, volleyball and girlâs soccer is Monday, August 26.
Prep football practice sessions get a jump-start and will get underway one week earlierâon Monday, August 21.
Student/athletes are reminded that current physicals and all paperwork are due the first day of practice.
