The students in Colville High Schoolâ€™s Alternative Energy class can do that. Building a radiant heater? They can do that too. In fact, when it comes to alternative energy and creating the means to harness it, thereâ€™s not much the students canâ€™t do. Money and time are the only restrictions.
Margaret â€śPeggyâ€ť Jean (Crooks) Kondrath, a long-time resident of Colville, passed away on May 14, 2014 in Colville. Peggy was born on October 7, 1927 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Johnson) Osborne.
Michael â€śMikeâ€ť Lawrence Hofmeister, a lifetime resident of Evans, passed away on May 5, 2014 in Colville at the age of 86. Mike was born on May 1, 1928 on the family farm in Evans, the son of Lawrence and Barbara (Epp) Hofmeister.
He was raised on the farm and attended grade school in Bossburg. He completed his education at the old Marcus High School and graduated in 1946. Mike then worked in the local quarry for U.S. Gypsum Company.
Katheryn â€śKittyâ€ť Ree Bundick, a seven-year resident of Colville, passed away on May 17, 2014 in Colville at the age of 69. Kitty was born on Nov. 13, 1944 in Lorado, West Virginia in Logan County, the youngest of 17 children to Boyd and Ocie Bell (Blankenship) Mullins.
Ethel Lucille Bartholomew passed away on April 29, 2014 at the age off 99. Ethel was born on Sept. 30, 1914 in the town of Brutus, New York â€“ the first child of HowÂ¬ard Zellar and Amelia (Dutton) Zellar.
Ethel grew up in Weedsport, New York, and was joined by a sister and five brothers, before her fatherâ€™s sudden death from meningitis. The youngest, a baby boy, also died from the disÂ¬ease. As the oldest, Ethel left school and worked in a dress factory to help support the family. When her mother remarÂ¬ried, Ethel returned to school and graduated with the WeedÂ¬sport class of 1933.
Una Wendell Mathews passed away on April 25, 2014 in Colville. She was born on July 1, 1920 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Robert and Norah (Lacey) Grant.
Kenneth Leon Kilgore, passed away, surrounded by his family, at the age of 78 on April 27, 2014. He was born in Lamont on June 8, 1935, on a wheat ranch. At the age of six- months his parents, Leon J. Kilgore and Florence Kilgore, purchased the homesteaded ranch in Colville.
Jay Edward Pratt was born July 12, 1979 and passed away May 1, 2014 at the age of 34.
Jay lived in the Kettle Falls area his whole life. He completed his education in Kettle Falls. He played all school sports, but most of all, he loved baseball. Jay later grew to love hunting and fishing and embraced that as his passion.
He loved to take his sons horn hunting. Jay would take the horns and hide them so the boys could find them again.
Jay worked at Hearth and Home and at Vaagen Brothers Lumber.
Your smile always lit up the room. Everyone you met was instantly your friend. On May 2, 2014 you went home to be in the loving arms of Jesus.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Brittney Horton, aka Payten Winchester, was born Sept. 25, 1992 and passed away May 2, 2014.
She grew up in St. Helens, Oregon. In 2010 you chose to move to Colville, where you have lived life to the fullest and succeeded in all that you have attempted while there. You have touched so many lives, and I hope you knew how loved you are. We are all blessed for being a part of your beautiful life.
Amber â€śAmbieâ€ť Nicole Mattingly, age 35, passed away in Colville on April 28, 2014. She was born on April 1, 1979 in Inglewood, California, the daughter of Floyd Lee and Susan Yvonne (Warren) Carter. Amber grew up in California until moving with her family to Moscow, ID in 1992. Upon graduating from high school in Moscow in 1997, Amber attended North Idaho College in Coeur dâ€™Alene, ID for a year and a half, and then attended college in Spokane.
