Kettle Falls High School students looking for career opportunities

Kettle Falls High School is also hoping to provide students with a Job Shadow opportunity. Job shadowing will take place during the month of February. There are a total of 68 sophomores that we will be transporting in small numbers throughout the community to job shadow. We ask that you have one student on any given day (your availability) and we will provide you with resumes and generic job applications from the students that are interested in your career so that you can select and know about anyone coming to job shadow.

Myrtle Parker

Myrtle Laverne Parker was born on July 10, 1930 in Willis¬ton, North Dakota to Joseph and Frances Moline. She moved to Spokane to live with her grandmother while still in high school. She graduated from North Central High School (Spo¬kane) in 1948.
After high school, she attended Beauty School. She said that she used to travel to Colville from Spo¬kane once a week to cut hair. Myrtle met her soon to be hus¬band, Jack, on a fishing trip with friends at Deer Lake. Jack and Myrtle were married on July 17, 1950.

Linda Beegle

Linda Joy Beegle passed away in Colville on Nov. 28, 2014. She was born the daughter of Charles Freeman and Bonnie Ione (Little) Joudrey on Dec. 8, 1941 in Bellingham.

David Pease

December 2, 2014

David Lee Pease passed away on Nov.29, 2014 in Spokane. He was born the son of Louie Thomas and Audrey Elizabeth (Gardnerhouse) Pease on Oct. 21, 1941 in Lewiston, ID. David grew up and attended school in Inchelium. After graduating from Inchelium High School, David attended and graduated from Whitworth College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry Management. That led him to a 36-year career with Boise Cascade.

Don Nigg

December 2, 2014

Don F. Nigg, age 78 of Oroville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 in Colville. He was born Sept. 27, 1936 in Oroville to parents Frank and Gunda Nigg.
Don grew up and attended school in Oroville, graduating in 1954. He then entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge from the service in 1956, he moved to Conrad, Montana.

Christmas Tour at Keller House starts Friday

The atmosphere in the Keller House last Monday was merry, if slightly scattered, as volunteers prepared the historic Colville home for the annual Christmas Tour.
Wreaths were waiting to be hung and Christmas lights illuminated the dining room. Amidst all the holiday decoration, photos of men and women in the United States Armed Forces surveyed the scene, coinciding with this year’s theme, “I’ll be Home for Christmas.”

Lewis will stay on as CHS Supe

Interim Colville School District Superintendent Pete Lewis has been accorded a more stable and permanent status by the district’s board of directors.
The former Fairbanks, AK school superintendent has become the new “permanent” superintendent for the Colville School District. At a board meeting on Nov. 24, Lewis received a unanimous 5-0 vote from board members

Warming Center opens its doors

December 2, 2014

Freezing temperatures prompted the Colville Warming Center to open its doors last month, beginning its opening run with eight days in a row of temperatures below 15 degrees. The center was open last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as temperatures plummeted to as low as four degrees.
Low temperatures in the Colville valley were expected to stay in the teens and low 20s for much of the week.
