Our beloved Elaine M. Porter-Cole, 69, went in peace to Jesus, our Lord on Nov. 8, 2014 surrounded by her family in love and spirit at the Spokane Hospice House.

JB Richardson

James Buckley “JB” Richardson, 91, most recently of Sweetwater, TN, passed quietly into the presence of his Lord Oct. 10, 2014 at Wood Presbyterian Home, Sweetwater.
He was predeceased in 2006 by his wife of 62 years, E. Marzella.
He is survived by son, Larry and wife Sarah, Colombia, South America; son, David and wife Barb, Ecuador, South America; daughter, Janet Brewington, Edwall; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Gallinger

Mary Elizabeth Rhodes Gallinger, passed away peace­fully on Nov. 10, 2014 at Buena Vista Nursing home in Colville at the age of 91. She was born on Jan. 12, 1923 to Louis and Edna Garton Rhodes, in Coulee City.
She graduated from Coulee City High School and at­tended Business School in Everett. On her return to Coulee City area, she went to work at Grand Coulee Dam as one of the first fe­male timekeepers.

David Wyatt

David Earl Wyatt was born April 4, 1935 to Carl and Mae Wyatt. He passed away on Nov. 7, 2014.
Survivors include one son, David W. Wyatt.
He was born in Bend, OR, and was preceded in death by his five brothers, Carl, Oscar, Robert, Phillip and James.
He is survived by his sister, Alice Balderston, and by many nieces and nephews that loved him.
He lived in Colville for many years. He will be very much missed by family and friends.

Incumbents keep seats, li­brary levy fails

certified Nov. 25

As results for the Nov. 4 Gen­eral Election rolled in last week, it became clear that incumbents could breathe a sigh of relief, if they worked up a sweat at all about keeping their respective elected seats. Though some races were close, the majority of Stevens Count voters tended to go with whom they knew.
Of the 28,573 ballots that were sent out to registered vot­ers by the Stevens County De­partment of Elections, 10,287 had been counted as of last Fri­day morning.

City looks at new location for law enforcement

The City of Colville is looking at possibly moving the Colville Police Department to a different location. In this case, the former United States Border Patrol office at 209 E Juniper Ave., adjacent to the Spokane Community Colleges Colville Center and behind South Main Restaurant.
According to Interim Mayor Pro-Tempore Lou Janke, nothing is official yet. Rural Resources Community Action is first in line to potentially convert the building into a men’s shelter, if it meets their needs.

Jackie Parker

Jackie Edward Parker was born May 22, 1928 on a family farm near Spangle to Noel and Helen Parker. When Jack was three-years-old, he moved to Spokane with his mom and dad. He attended Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane.
Jack entered military service in 1945. He was stationed in Germany at the end of WWII and then stationed in Texas. He returned to Spokane for a short time and while home, he met his wife, Myrtle Moline, on a fishing trip with friends at Deer Lake. Jack and Myrtle enjoyed service life and traveled to faraway places like England and Puerto Rico.

William Richard “Dick” Philpott passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 12 in Bellevue. Dick lived with Alzheimer’s disease for 14 years and was 89-years-old.
