One of the state’s most significant high school football games to date in 2014 will be played Friday night when unbeaten, defending State 1A champion Freeman brings its veteran cast to Colville to face the unbeaten Indians.
Game time for one of the most important regular season football games in recent CHS memory is 7 p.m.
Colville (5-0, 3-0) and Freeman ((5-0, 3-0) are familiar protagonists over the years. The Indians and Scotties, if they aren’t vying for a Northeast A League title, always seem to be on each other’s non-league schedules.

Community members take on drugs in Yep Kanum

October 7, 2014

Three men sit at a picnic table in Yep Kanum Park, all there for very specific, similar reasons. Ian Pickett, his brother Michael Pickett, and friend Tony Gorst, all Colville residents, are part of a handful of concerned citizens on a mission to take back Yep Kanum Park. Over the past several years, the park, which is located in a wooded two acres in the heart of Colville, has garnered a reputation for vandal¬ism, loitering, and illegal drug use.
The last straw for Ian Pickett was when his 16-year-old daughter was warned by class¬mates not to go to the park by herself.
