Rosina A. Fairbanks of Four Lakes passed away on March 29, 2012 at the age of 98. She was born to Jacob and Flora Rufer at Fort McCoy Florida on Nov. 8, 1913. She was second oldest of four children.
She was 10-months-old when her family returned to Washington to farm near Pine City. They later moved to Oregon, where her father farmed and worked in the logging industry. Rosina graduated from Scapoose High School in Scapoose, Oregon in 1930. From there she attended Behnke Walker Business School in Portland, Oregon.
Sherry Ann Smithson, a longtime resident of the Colville area, passed away on Wednesday, May 2 in Colville at the age of 48. Sherry was born on Dec. 11, 1964 in Wenatchee, the daughter of Charles Smithson and Carolyn Smithson.
Sherry enjoyed her work at Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home as and assistant director of nursing and a registered nurse for numerous years.
Sherry was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt and dear friend. She will be forever missed.
Eugene Alexander Erickson, age 74, passed away on April 28, 2012. He was born on Nov. 7, 1937, the son of Rudolph and Mary (Ditchfield) Erickson in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Eugene moved to the United States when he was very young. He lived in the Tacoma and Vashon Island areas, where he atÂŹtended school until moving to France with his family, where he graduated from high school. Upon completion of high school, Gene moved back to the United States and attended college.
Douglas Allan Anderson, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on May 4, 2012, at his home. Doug was born on Oct. 28, 1955 at the Osaka Army Hospital in Kanaoka, Japan, the son of Allan Orville and Arlene LaBelle (White) Anderson. During his youth, Dougâs family relocated often as they followed his fatherâs service in the U.S. military. They resided on military bases in Japan, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Germany. Dougâs family eventually settled in the Marysville area, where he completed his junior and senior high school education.
Curtis Young, âFishâ, age 41, passed away in Spokane on May 4, 2012. He was born on Dec. 11, 1970, the son of Steven and Marie (Holland) Young, in Colville.
Curt, a life-long resident of Kettle Falls and Colville, attended school in Kettle Falls and graduated from Kettle Falls High School in 1989. He was a very generous man, a big-hearted, caring individual who always lived life to the fullest. Curt was also one of the founding members of the âRichard Craniumsâ.

Delbert Edward Rieckers, a lifetime resident of NorthÂŹport, passed away on April 23, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, family at his side. Delbert was born on Sept. 5, 1941 in Colville, the son of Alva and Helen (Snyder) Rieckers.
Delbert was raised in Northport, where he attended school. On Jan. 24, 1958, Delbert married Frances K. âCozyâ Striker. They began a family and made their home in Northport. Delbert had a great appreciation for a full dayâs work, an ideal he put into practice by the age of 15.
James âDickâ Richard Garvey, a lifetime resident of Colville, passed away at his home April 18, 2012 at the age of 88. Dick was born Sept. 22, 1923 in Colville to George and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Garvey.
Dick was raised and attended school in the Marcus and Colville area. While in high school, he played football and baseball. At the age of 15, he helped build the Fort Colville Grange and has been a member ever since. He completed his junior year in high school, then, due to the needs on the farm, he left school.
Bradley âBradâ Scott Whiteman, a resident of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 25. Brad was born on Jan. 30, 1987 in Redondo Beach, CA, the son of Raymond Bradley and Emma Frances (Romo) Whiteman.

HALDON L. âSLIMâ HOLFORD, 85, Morton, WA, died Tuesday, April 3, at Morton General Hospital, Morton, WA. A Graveside Service was held 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Meyers Falls Cemetery, Kettle Falls, WA. Services were under the direction of Brown Mortuary, Morton.
Emily Gladys Knapp passed away on the evening of Good Friday, April 6, 2012 in Olympia, WA at age 96, due to complications that arose waiting for treatment of a compression fracture. She was a 66 year resident of Colville, Washington and loved her town.
