Charles Ray Curtis passed away at his home in Lehi, Utah on August 1, 2012 at the age of 84. He was born the son of Ray Lawrence and Ida Faye Curtis on Dec. 6, 1927 in Palouse. He graduated from Colville High School and later married Elizabeth May Gallaway.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a jack of all trades, working as an electrician, saw filer, mechanic and millwright with Arden Lumber. He worked for 12 years as a millwright at Northwest Alloys, Inc. He taught hydraulics at Spokane Community College.
Bonita â€śBonnieâ€ť Jane Chamberlain, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Aug. 2, 2012 in Colville at the age of 90. Bonnie was born on May 14, 1922, in Colville, the daughter of Ellis Harold Conner and Alvena Freida (Wilken) Conner.
Bonnie was raised in Colville, where she attended school and graduated in 1940 as a twelve-year senior from Colville High School.
Following high school, she began work at the Bell Telephone Company. A year later, she took a sales clerk position at BarÂ¬manâ€™s Department Store, where she worked for the next four years.
Alma Lea Barrans passed away on August 4, 2012 at the age of 79. She was born the daughter of George Albert and Edna (Clarke) Parker on Jan. 14, 1933 in Chewelah. Alma Lea attended and graduated from high school in Chewelah, Class of 1950. She met Delmar Barrans in 1944, and the two were married on June 14, 1951 in Chewelah.
Marion Grace Clark, longtime resident of the Kettle Falls area, passed away on July 17, 2012 in her home at the age of 80. Marion was born on July 4, 1932 in Republic, the daughter of Ralph Thomas and Bessie (Edwards) Mellor.
She attended school in Republic and graduated as a 12-year senior in 1950. Marion later moved to Wenatchee and worked in the packing houses during the harvest season. While there, she began a family. They relocated to the Kettle Falls area in the mid-1960â€™s.
Chief James D. Souudt, Jr. passed away at his home with his family around him on July 28, 2012, one week and one day before his 75th birthday.
He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1954 and retired in 1974. He worked several lifeboat stations on the Oregon Coast, and on the Northwind Ice Breaker from 1960-1962. He also did two tours in Vietnam on the Basswood, a buoy tender in Guam.
Mom is gone, but everyone who knew her will always hold a happy memory of her in their hearts. She died July 28, 2012 at the age of 91, in Colville, where she resided these last several years.
Jeanne dâ€™Arc Ollie Marguerite Hebert, always known as Joanne, was born October 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the middle of three children. Her family moved to California when she was an infant and she grew up on her familyâ€™s San Mateo estate, â€śVilla Lucia.â€ť
Her interests growing up were horseback riding, sailing, fishing, as well as duck and upland bird hunting.
Glenn Clayton Shimmin passed away on July 26, 2012 at the age of 47. He was born the son of Jack and Doris (Dupree) Shimmin on Jan. 27, 1965 in San Mateo, California.
Glenn was a truly fine man; he treasured and was treasured by all of his family and friends. He died doing what he loved, restoring old cars and helping beloved community members. Glenn was a very loved, respected, and cherished member of his family and town. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Andy Wood, a longtime resident of Colville, and the son of Merton and Zane Wood, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2012 following a long, painful battle with health ailments.Â
Andy was 64 years-old and is survived by his sons, Wyatt, Bryan, Mike and siblings Elton, Connie and Patty.Â Andy was a loving fatherland grandpa to six grandchildren.Â
Andy was a former BN railroader, Navy Vet and enjoyed the outdoors, NASCAR, football, repairing and collecting transistor radios and his Hummer.Â
Andy was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Roger Damon Olsen, 73, passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington on July 12, 2012 after a courageous battle with heart disease. He was born May 4, 1939 in Racine, Wisconsin to Albert â€śAlâ€ť and Ruth (Vig) Olsen. He attended and graduated from Colville High School in 1957. Rogerâ€™s father was a Speech and English teacher at Colville High School. Ruth was a homemaker. Roger married Marla Scoles on September 24, 1966 in Coeur dâ€™Alene, Idaho.
David Wilson Easton Jr., 85, passed peacefully at Clare Bridge in Olympia, on July 7, 2012 after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born February 21, 1927, the first of four children born to David and Emma Easton of Beulah, North Dakota.
