Blaine Moorhead

November 1, 2013

 Blaine E. Moorhead passed away on October 21, 2013 on the farm his parents raised him on.
He was born the son of Ross and Elise (Ralph) Moorhead on Sept. 28, 1926 in Colville. Blaine was a life-long resident of Colville and graduated from Colville High School. After graduating from high school, Blaine enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge in 1947, Blaine returned to the family farm where he lived until his passing.

Deborah Bond

Deborah Jean Bond, a lifetime resident of Colville, passed away on Oct. 18, 2013 at her home at the age of 54. Deborah was born on Feb. 24, 1959 in Colville, the daughter of Robert Jackson “Jack” and Donna Kathleen (Hager) Darnielle.
Deborah grew up on the family ranch near Arden. She attended school in Colville and graduated as a twelve-year senior of Colville High School in 1977. Deborah then worked for a time in the local forests with the Department of Natural Resources. In 1978, she married Julian Bond in Colville. They began a family with the birth of their son, David.

Royce Osborn

Royce Allen Osborn, 59, of Phoenix, Arizona, went to Heaven October 1, 2013.
He was born in Orient to Buryl Osborn and the late Bonnie Hotchkiss July 2, 1954.
Royce graduated from Kettle Falls High School (class of 1972) and went on to receive his Associate’s Degree from DeVry Institute (class of 1975) in Phoenix. He was married to Edith Dale Osborn on Dec. 4, 1993.

Sam Shuhda

Sam Shuhda (age 87) passed away Oct. 6, 2013. He was born on Sept. 19, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY. Sam was the fourth of six children born to Habib and Regina Shuhda, immigrants from Syria and Lebanon.

Ina King

October 7, 2013

Ina Irene King, a 48-year resident of Rice, passed away on Sept. 23, 2013 at the age of 91 in Colville. Ina was born on July 10, 1922 in Alamo, NV, the daughter of Joseph and Edna Irene (Cutler) Cox.
Ina was raised and attended school in Alamo. There she graduated from high school in 1941. She then moved to Salt Lake City to attend Heneger Business School. While attending business school, she met James “Jim” King. On July 15, 1942 Ina and Jim were wed in Alamo. She continued and completed her education at Heneger through correspondence.

Richard Thompson

September 19, 2013

Richard Chapman Thompson passed away on August 30, 2013 in Colville. He was born on Feb. 23, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Fred and Gladys (Dill) Thompson.
Richard grew up in Iowa and relocated to Ione with his family when he was in the eighth grade. After graduating from high school in Ione, Richard enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Richard attended and graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Master’s Degree and taught at elementary schools throughout Washington State.

May Brittain

May Wilma Brittain, a longtime Kettle Falls resident, passed away on Sept. 10, 2013 in Colville. She was born on Dec. 6, 1924 in Springfield, OR, the daughter of Ora Lee and Alma Ana (Fischer) Richardson.
May grew up at Diamond Lake and attended school in Newport. She married Marvin Brittain on Feb. 7, 1941 and spent the next 52 years together until Marvin’s passing.

September 11th

Joyce Seymour

September 11, 2013

Joyce Seymour passed away peacefully at her residence in Colville August 12, 2013. She had fought a long hard battle with COPD and emphysema. She considered herself lucky that she was able to stay home due to the care of her daughter, Kris; son Don, and two granddaughters, Brandi and KaLelia, at the end, the wonderful Hospice staff. Joyce passed away knowing all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were there by her side.
