Eva Viola âViâ Peterson, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away in Clarkston on April 22, 2014 at the age of 98. Vi was born on Dec. 17, 1915 in Colville, the daughter of Daniel and Rosa (Dixon) Brown.
Evelyn Mae Newbill, 89, of Spokane, passed away April 14, 2014. She was the daughter of Roy and Bertha Selder of Hunters. Evelyn graduated from Hunters High School in 1943. She married Everett âEbâ Newbill three years later and had two children, Charmaine and Patrick.
Evelyn and âEbâ lived in Colville and Spokane while raising their family and later moved to Plummer, Idaho, where âEbâ worked in the lumber industry until his death in 2003.
Dale Vernon Salhus of Inchelium passed away on April 17, 2014 of a sudden heart attack at the age of 71. Â He was born in Lewiston, ID on July 16, 1942 to Magdlena and Melvin Salhus, one of 4 boys.
The family moved to Aberdeen, SD, where Dale finished high school in 1961. Â His working career began in Aberdeen and continued in the Seattle area, where he worked for Rohr Industries in the construction of Boeing jet engines for 16 years. Â There he married Sharon Hansen and had two children, Danielle and Dale Jr. Â
Iven Merrion Brown, a longtime resident of the Colville and Kettle Falls area, passed away on April 14, 2014 at the age of 80. Iven was born on September 29, 1933 near Kettle Falls, the son of Boone B. and Edna Eunice Margaret (House) Brown.
Iven was born close to Haagâs Cove and grew up on the family farm in Inchelium. He helped on the farm while attending school. There he made many life-long friends including his first wife of 37-years, Lenora Catlow.
Gay Marie (Lundstrom) Ragan was born to Ray and Cecil Lundstrom on Sept 25, 1938 in Wilbur. She grew up living as an only child on her parentsâ ranch, which is known as the âLundstrom Ranch,â on what is now the âHellâs Gate Game Refuge on the Colville Indian Reservation.â
George David Hastings, a 43-year resident of Colville, passed away on April 18, 2014, surrounded by family while at his Colville home. George was born on December 14, 1931, the son of George Willard and Lucille Ella (Davis) Hastings.
George resided with his family in the Coeur dâ Alene, ID area as a young boy, later moving with them to the Kent area. There he attended both grade school and high school.
Gale Deradorff, a long time resident of Colville, passed away on April 12, 2014 in Colville at the age of 81. Gale was born on January 6, 1933 in Mount Ayr, Iowa, the son of William and Gladys (Jones) Deardorff.
Gale was raised and attended school in McCook, Nebraska, and after completing the sixth grade began working to help support his family. Soon after his eighteenth birthday, he joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War, until he was discharged in 1953.
Philip H. Dubois, 78, of Colville, passed away on April 13, 2014. Phil was born to Numa and Ruby Dubois on April 15, 1935 in Arden.
He lived almost all of his life in Colville, working as a cattle rancher. Philip graduated from Colville High School in 1953 and married Karole Berger in 1954.
Phil was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie; a daughter, Vickie; a sister, Phyllis, and a brother, David.
He is survived by a son, Jean; a daughter, Valerie; two grandsons, Christopher and Jamie; a sister, Yvonne; and a sister, Rosemarie.
William âBillâ Clovis Tremblay passed away on April 19, 2014 in Kettle Falls at the age of 80. He was born on February 26, 1934 in North Bend, OR the son of John and Bessie (Sherrill) Tremblay.
Bill spent his childhood in and around North Bend and Portland. He enjoyed the freedom and thrill of the good old days, riding the Portland streetcars all day for a nickel and boat racing with his father. He talked about riding the school bus, when as the oldest child at thirteen he had to drive the bus.
Marion Wayne Harris, a resident of Columbus, OH, passed away on March 19, 2014 in Colville at the age of 65. Wayne was born on March 20, 1948, the son of Lewis Reevs and June Marie (Harvey) Harris in Louisville, KY.
Wayne was a raised in Englewood, CO, where he attended school and graduated from Englewood High School in 1966. Wayne then married his childhood sweetheart and together they raised a family. Wayne and Lindaâs lives eventually took sepaÂŹrates paths, but they continued a lifelong friendship.
