Larry Dickey

July 2, 2014

Larry Thomas Dickey was born on Nov. 19, 1941 in Cheney. He passed away in his home in Kettle Falls on June 23.
He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and his community for many years. Larry was well known by many. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and wood-worker.

James Judd

July 2, 2014

James Brewster Judd, age 94, passed away on June 23, 2014 in Inchelium. He was born the son of John Stanley and Winnie (Premo) Judd on May 28, 1920 in Che­halis. At the age of 12, James moved with his family from Chehalis to Inche­lium, where the family farmed and raised cattle.

Grace Rupert

Grace Cleo Rupert, 98, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014 in Colville. She was born on Feb. 26, 1916 in Rice, the daughter of Albert and Ella (Pendergraft) Sparks. Grace was one of nine children in her family. She grew up and attended school in Rice, where her older sister, Gladys Hopper, was also the school teacher. After high school, Grace lived in Ste­vens County for most of her life.
On August 2, 1937, she married Henry Warren Rupert and the couple was happily married for 57 years until Henry’s passing in 1994.

Jack Heeney

John “Jack” V. Heeney passed away June 10 in Republic. He was born April 27, 1927 in Pennsylvania, where he grew up and then attended Penn State University to study Industrial Engineering.
Anyone who knew Jack understood his passion for Penn State sports, especially football.
He served in World War II, the Korean War and with the Army Corps of Engineers Reserves. He retired as a Lt. Colonel after 24 years of active service.

Robert Pashon

Twenty-four year Colville resident, Robert W. Pashon, passed away at home on June 6, 2014. Rob was 70-years-old.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marla; his daughter, Dawn L. Reed and son-in-law, Keith Reed, Kettle Falls; and his son, Robert A Pahon, Spokane; four grandchildren, Kayla, Michael, Matthew and Dylan Owings, as well as two great-grandsons, Nathaniel S. Doll, five-years-old and Lukas A. Owings, one-month-old.
Rob will be missed deeply by family, friends, neighbors and by the many acquaintances he met in Stevens County.

Veda Tadlock

The passing of Veda Irene Tadlock, 95, on June 8, 2014 marks the end of an era. An era linked to the Addy dairy farm, kids, grandkids, friends and hard work. For over 60 years, friends and family turned off Highway 395 to the home of Wendell and Veda Tadlock. All were welcomed, and there was always ‘a little something’ in the kitchen – no matter what time of day or night guests might arrive.

William Lewis Jr.

William Ray Lewis Jr., a resident of the Colville area, passed away on Feb. 6, 2014 in Colville at the age of 64. Wil­liam was born on Jan. 9, 1950 in Tampa, FL, the son of William Ray and Jacqueline Jean (Keeley) Lewis.

George Tate

George R. Tate, a 59-year resident of Stevens County, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 9, 2014, at the age of 89. George was born on Oct. 9, 1924, in Kennefic, OK, the son of George R. and Elisa Ann (Smith) Tate.
George was raised and attended school in Oklahoma, and then attended a pattern-making and upholstery trade school. On Oct. 3, 1944, George married Toney M. Pettett. They moved to Richland, where George worked at the newly opened Hanford Nuclear Reservation, where he also apprenticed as a carpenter.

Leonard Gordon

Leonard D. Gordon, born August 14, 1941, died May 21, 2014. Len was a longtime resident of Stevens County. He worked for the county as a plow-truck driver and equipment operator. After retiring, he moved to Rathdrum, Idaho.
Len is survived by his wife Anne, at the home; his son, Brian, also at the home; a daughter, Cathy, of Tualatin, Oregon.
A memorial for Len is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2 p.m., at the clubhouse of Golden Spike Estates in Rathdrum.

Roger Lindgren

June 12, 2014

Roger Lindgren of Superior, Montana completed his journey this side of Heaven on April 1, 2014.
He was born in Colville on April 30, 1936 to Anton and Bertha Lindgren.
Roger graduated from Colville High School in 1954 and joined the Coast Guard. In 1962 he graduated from the School of Forestry in Missoula at what was then Montana State University.
