Donald Andrews

Donald Eugene Andrews, a 26-year resident of Colville, passed away on Dec. 12, 2013 in Chewelah at the age of 78. Don was born on Sept. 20, 1935 in Bartlesville, OK, the son of Stanley Euberta and Isabelle (Tinker) Andrews.
He began grade school in Bartlesville and then moved with his family at the age of 9 to Bremerton. While in Bremerton, Don graduated from Bremerton High School in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army where he became an accomplished marksman and enjoyed competing in numerous shooting competitions.

Dora Cook

Dora J. Cook, a longtime resident of Colville, passed peacefully into eternity on Nov. 29, 2013 in Spokane. Dora was born to Qurinus C. and Gertrude (Moss) Huyser on May 28, 1919 in Big Timber, MT.
She grew up on her parent’s ranch with her brother, Quincy, and sisters, Olive and Ruth. Dora attended the Wormser School in Sweetgrass, CO, graduating from the eighth grade in 1932. She left Montana in May 1942, traveling to Vallejo, CA where she worked as a welder in the shipyards at Mare Island during World War II.

Esther Basset

Esther Clara Bassett, a ten-year resident of Colville, passed away peacefully Dec. 12, 2013 at the age of 97. She was born in New Salem, North Dakota, to Maxmillian and Amelia (Mueller) Klingenstein.

Bob Dallas

January 3, 2014

Robert “Bob” Myron Dallas passed away Dec. 11, 2013 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Bob was born on April 16, 1919 in Moscow, Idaho to M.B. and Amzel (Bailor) Dallas.
Bob graduated from Colville High School in 1937 and studied business at Washington State College until returning to Colville to run Dallas Garage after his father passed away. He became a Dodge dealer in 1960 and retired in 1974.
He and Neva spent 30 years motor-homing and wintering in Mesa, AZ. He loved to fish and golf and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 70 years.

Ruby Humphrey

Ruby M. Humphrey, a lifetime resident of Colville, passed away on Dec.12, 2013 in Colville at the age of 88. Ruby was born in Colville on Aug. 15, 1925, the daughter of Harry and Blanche (Baker) Wilson.

Michael Hamilton

December 12, 2013

Michael Edward Hamilton passed away in Colville on Dec. 1, 2013. He was born on Dec. 18, 1942 in Spokane, the son of George and Naomi (Rowland) Hamilton. Mike grew up and attended school in Spokane. After graduating from Rogers High School in 1961, Mike moved to Seattle and went to work at Boeing.
Mike married Joann Bacon in 1962; together they shared 21 years of marriage and had two sons, John and Joe.

Susan Wilhoit

Susan Margaretta Wilhoit, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Dec. 3, 2013 in Spokane at the age of 67. She was born to James and Betty (Smith) Wilhoit in Santa Monica, CA. Susan moved to Colville in 1971.

Gerry Rainer

December 12, 2013

Geraldine “Gerry” L. Rainer, (1930 – 2013) passed peacefully at her home on Dec. 3, 2013 with family members at her side. Gerry was born on April 18, 1930 in Colville, the daughter of Grant Edward and Josie Celeste (Hauge) Amblie.
She was raised in Addy and attended school in Chewelah. Gerry graduated from Chewelah High School in 1947. She began working at Seattle First National Bank in Colville when she was 17.
On Jan. 19, 1949, she married Otto H. Rainer of Chewelah. Geraldine and Otto shared a blessed marriage and friendship of 64 years.

Don McKern

Donnel “Don” Waldo McKern, a longtime resident of Rice, passed away on Nov. 18, 2013 in Colville.. Don was born on Jan. 2, 1945 in Colville, the son of Morse and Blanche (Felts) McKern.
Don was raised in Rice and graduated from Kettle Falls High School in 1963. After graduation, he attended Washington State University for two years. Don then transferred to Wenatchee Valley College, where he studied for one year until he enlisted with the United States Air Force. He served his country until 1971, when he was honorably discharged.
