James Stoudt Jr.

Chief James D. Souudt, Jr. passed away at his home with his family around him on July 28, 2012, one week and one day before his 75th birthday.
He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1954 and retired in 1974. He worked several lifeboat stations on the Oregon Coast, and on the Northwind Ice Breaker from 1960-1962. He also did two tours in Vietnam on the Basswood, a buoy tender in Guam.

Joanne Hughes

Mom is gone, but everyone who knew her will always hold a happy memory of her in their hearts. She died July 28, 2012 at the age of 91, in Colville, where she resided these last several years.
Jeanne d’Arc Ollie Marguerite Hebert, always known as Joanne, was born October 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the middle of three children. Her family moved to California when she was an infant and she grew up on her family’s San Mateo estate, “Villa Lucia.”
Her interests growing up were horseback riding, sailing, fishing, as well as duck and upland bird hunting.

Glenn Shimmin

Glenn Clayton Shimmin passed away on July 26, 2012 at the age of 47. He was born the son of Jack and Doris (Dupree) Shimmin on Jan. 27, 1965 in San Mateo, California.
Glenn was a truly fine man; he treasured and was treasured by all of his family and friends. He died doing what he loved, restoring old cars and helping beloved community members. Glenn was a very loved, respected, and cherished member of his family and town. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Andy Wood

Andy Wood, a longtime resident of Colville, and the son of Merton and Zane Wood, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2012 following a long, painful battle with health ailments. 
Andy was 64 years-old and is survived by his sons, Wyatt, Bryan, Mike and siblings Elton, Connie and Patty.  Andy was a loving fatherland grandpa to six grandchildren. 
Andy was a former BN railroader, Navy Vet and enjoyed the outdoors, NASCAR, football, repairing and collecting transistor radios and his Hummer. 
Andy was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Roger Damon Olsen

Roger Damon Olsen, 73, passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington on July 12, 2012 after a courageous battle with heart disease. He was born May 4, 1939 in Racine, Wisconsin to Albert “Al” and Ruth (Vig) Olsen. He attended and graduated from Colville High School in 1957. Roger’s father was a Speech and English teacher at Colville High School. Ruth was a homemaker. Roger married Marla Scoles on September 24, 1966 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

David Wilson Easton Jr.

August 7, 2012

David Wilson Easton Jr., 85, passed peacefully at Clare Bridge in Olympia, on July 7, 2012 after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born February 21, 1927, the first of four children born to David and Emma Easton of Beulah, North Dakota.

Olga Carter

July 19, 2012

A graveside memorial service for Olga Carter, who passed away in November, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Eagles Lodge following the service.
Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Floyd Best

Floyd Dean Best, Sr. (age 74) was born March 27, 1938 to Basil and June Best in Colville. He passed away on June 23, 2012 in Spokane.
Floyd started his military career at a young age by joining the Marines. He transferred to the Army, retiring after 21 years. He was very proud of his military service.
Floyd was married for 37 years to Christa.

Fred Carroll

July 19, 2012

Fred Lawrence Carroll passed away on July 15, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born the son of Lawrence and Jo Ella (Fate) Carroll on August 19, 1922 in Bossburg. He was born and raised in the same house that he passed away in.
Fred attended grade school in Bossburg and graduated from Marcus High School in 1940. On Sept. 15, 1942, Fred enlisted in the Air Force and trained during WWII to be an aircraft me¬chanic. Following an Honorable Discharge, Fred returned home to Bossburg to help his mother take care of his younger siblings after his father passed away.

Betty Jean Hays

Betty Jean (Anderson) Hays, dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother, passed peacefully on July 13, 2012 at the age of 82.
Betty was born on June 14, 1930 in Orofino Idaho to Arthur and Rose (Ellwood) Anderson. Betty was the oldest of five sib¬lings growing up on the Columbia River (before Grand Coulee Dam was completed) and then relocating to the family farm on Deadman Creek. Betty attended school at Deadman Creek and high school in Colville and Kettle Falls.
