Lois Gordon Christensen

October 5, 2011

Lois Gordon Christensen, age 90, returned peacefully to her heavenly “ home” on Sunday morning, Oct. 2, 2011. For the past two years, Lois has been lovingly cared for by the kind staff at the Pinewood Terrace Nursing home in Colville. She delighted in visits from her family, looking forward to and often joining in as they sang her favorite songs and hymns. She would often ask, “Where is Bob?” not remembering that her husband of 61 years had passed away on Sunday, Jan. 2 this same year.
Lois was born to Daniel and Bessie Gordon on May 1, 1921. She was the third of five children.

Doris True

Doris Elaine True passed away Sept. 28, 2011. She was born March 23, 1933 to Lawrence and Emma Fitzthum in Snohomish.
She married the love of her life, Richard True, and started a family-owned shoe store. In 1978 they moved to Republic and purchased Tiffany’s Resort on Curlew Lake. In 1982 they retired and moved to Colville where she enjoyed gardening and planting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard.

Robert McClain

Robert McClain of Turlock, CA passed away Sept. 6, 2011. He was born in Colville on Oct. 17, 1952 to Richard and Ruthann McClain. He attended Colville schools for 12 years, graduating in 1970. Robert was also a graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelors in Business Accounting.

Robert Brooks

Robert “Bob” Brooks was born August 18, 1930 at Boyds. He died August 25, 2011 at Battle Ground. He was 81. He was the youngest of eight children. Bob graduated from Colville High School in 1949. From 1952-1953, Bob served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. He was an ambulance driver in the Korean War. While serving, he was awarded many medals. In 1953, he received honorable discharge to the reserves. In June, 1954, Bob married the love of his life, Louise Bedingfield. They were happily married for 57 years and raised five children.

Miriam Kramer

Miriam Ruth Ditzel Darnall Kramer passed away Sept. 24, 2011 at Providence Mt. Carmel hospital in Colville with her beloved husband of 18 years, Len Kramer, at her side. She was born April 13, 1928 in Takoma Park, MD to William Alwin and Aletha Kranz Ditzel.

John A. Thomas

John A. Thomas, a longtime resident of Daisy, passed away on Sept. 22, 2011 in Colville at the age of 91. John was born on April 1, 1920 in Colville, the son of Alexis and Frances (Hacker) Thomas.

Judith Childress

September 22, 2011

Judith E. Childress, a lifelong resident of Chewelah, passed away August 31, 2011, in Chewelah at the age of 72.

George Oakshott

September 22, 2011

George Robert Oakshott, DVM., a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Sept.13, 2011 in Colville at the age of 82. George was born on Oct. 26, 1928 in Rosalia, the son of George Haywood and Olive Loreen (Harper) Oakshott.
As a boy, George moved with his family from Rosalia to Newport. After one year in Newport, they relocated to Colville. While in Colville, George attended school and graduated in 1946 as the Class President of Colville High School. He then farmed with his father and distributed fuel for the Standard Oil Company.

David Wayne Morris

David Wayne Morris, of Kettle Falls went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 16, 2011, at the age of 86. Wayne passed into glory peacefully at home with his family at his side. Wayne was born on April 30, 1925 at Breckenridge, Texas.

Arthur "Art" Kohlstedt

Arthur "Art" Kohlstedt died Sept. 8, 2011 at the age of 83. He was born Feb. 26, 1928 to Marguerite "Marge" and Harold "Koley" Kohlstedt, long-time residents of Colville.
Art loved life and was generous in spirit and a friend to all.
He is survived by his dear brother James E. Kohlstedt and his family (Colville), his friend and ex-wife Myrtle Kohlstedt (Hunters), and three children and their spouses- Rick (Robbin) Kohlstedt of Spokane, Ray (Katie) Kohlstedt of Deer Park, and Pam (Bob) Kohlstedt-Ardis of Duluth, MN, and many loving grandchildren and his best friend, his dog, Blue.
