Carolyn V. Eseke

Carolyn V. Eseke passed away on Oct. 3, 2011 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her son, James. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Williams; grandchildren Michael Williams, Kimarra Howard (Joe), Richard Eseke, Eric Eseke, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Kathren and Irene; a brother, Richard, and many nieces and nephews. She has gone to a better place. No funeral service will be held per her request.

Cora Gray

Cora S. Gray, 89, lived a life far beyond a set of dates. An independent woman from a young age, she was the captain of the Hopkinton, NH girls high school basketball team. Her independent streak continued as she wore her first two-piece polka dot bikini in 1941 and caught the eye of her future husband, George H. Gray.

Ronald Dean Meadows

Ronald Dean Meadows entered into rest on Sept. 17, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Debbie. Ronald was the third son of Roy and Myrtle Meadows, born Dec. 5, 1952 in Chewelah. Ronald joined the Air Force right after graduating from Chewelah High School in 1971. He was honorably discharged in August 1977. He then went to work for K-L Manufacturing in Chewelah. He worked there for 18 years until the company closed its doors in 2002. He then went to work for Wal-Mart in Colville. He worked there until his death. On Nov.

Nicholas “Nick” J. Godes

Nicholas “Nick” J. Godes, a 44-year resident of the Colville area, passed away on Oct. 18, 2011. Nick was born on June 11, 1931 in Richardton, ND, the son of Mike and Fillameno “Minnie” (Steiner) Godes.
He attended first grade through third grade in Hawmarth, ND and then moved to Richardton where he finished eighth grade. Nick then began working for local farmers, as well as turning a wrench at the John Deere dealership. On March 19, 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served overseas in Japan, Okinawa and Korea. He was honorably discharged on March 1, 1954 at Camp Stoneman, CA.

Mary Ann Dolman

Mary Ann Dolman, a 17-year resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on Oct. 17, 2011 in Colville at the age of 78. She was born on Sept. 7, 1933 in Downers Grove, Il, the daughter of Philip and Olga (Schaefer) May.

Mary Louise Cornelius

Mary Louise Cornelius, 89, of Kettle Falls, passed away on October 18, 2011 in Colville. Mary was born on March 20, 1922 in Conway, the daughter of John and Karen (Berquist) Loft¬strom.
She enjoyed telling stories of her and her husband’s camping and fishing adventures in Alaska. Mary and her husband attended many of his Naval reunions, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved her family get-togethers. Mary always had a smile on her face, was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Nordby.

Donald “Don” Stratton

Donald “Don” Stratton, a past resident of Colville, passed away on Oct. 23, 2011 in Spokane at the age of 85. He was born on Nov. 4, 1925, the son of Glen and Ethel Stratton.

Quentin J. Porter

Quentin J. Porter, 85 of Colville, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2011 with his family at his side and in the comfort of Francis House Syracuse, where he had been since Sept. 29, 2011. Quentin finally lost his ten-year battle with cancer.
He was born on March 20, 1926 in Berlin, Wis,. The son of Harold A. and Helen Lubenetski Porter.
He married Jeanne Bodenback in 1949 in Wisconsin. Quentin and Jeanne were happily married for 40 years. Jeanne, ‘Mama Jeanne’, passed away in 1989 after her own battle with cancer.

Daisy Mae Boughey

Daisy Mae Boughey, 94, a resident of Rice for the past 19 years, and a former resident of Leavenworth, died Oct. 10, 2011 at Colville. Daisy Mae was born on June 6, 1917 to Enes and Janie (Waum) Dale at Ryegate, Montana, where she was raised and educated. Daisy married Leland E. Boughey on Sept. 2, 1952 in Seattle. They moved to Leavenworth where they owned and operated Icicle Farm Dairy and where Daisy also worked as a waitress. After retiring in 1991, Daisy moved to Rice, where she has lived ever since.
