David Wayne Morris, of Kettle Falls went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 16, 2011, at the age of 86. Wayne passed into glory peacefully at home with his family at his side. Wayne was born on April 30, 1925 at Breckenridge, Texas.
Arthur "Art" Kohlstedt died Sept. 8, 2011 at the age of 83. He was born Feb. 26, 1928 to Marguerite "Marge" and Harold "Koley" Kohlstedt, long-time residents of Colville.
Art loved life and was generous in spirit and a friend to all.
He is survived by his dear brother James E. Kohlstedt and his family (Colville), his friend and ex-wife Myrtle Kohlstedt (Hunters), and three children and their spouses- Rick (Robbin) Kohlstedt of Spokane, Ray (Katie) Kohlstedt of Deer Park, and Pam (Bob) Kohlstedt-Ardis of Duluth, MN, and many loving grandchildren and his best friend, his dog, Blue.
Marion Martin Scotten, age 89, died Sept. 7, 2011. He was born Jan. 26, 1922 in Cedonia to Richard and Martha Scotten. His grandparents, Martin and Mary Scotten, were early pioneers from Missouri and helped found the Cedonia Church. Marion graduated from Columbia High School in Hunters in 1940. He moved to Seattle and was working at the Boeing aircraft plant when Pearl Harbor was attacked. During World War II, he served in the Army driving a supply truck on the Burma Road to China and returning by airplane over the Himalayas. After leaving the service, he lived in Spokane.
Patricia R. Ames, a resident of the Colville and Spokane area for the last 31 years, and loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Sept. 6, 2011 at Riverview Care Center in Spokane.
Pat was born Sept. 20, 1937 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Walt and Margaret (Sturgis) LeMaster.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Edward James Ames, and by one brother, Jim LeMaster.
Randy Lee Miller, a resident of Addy, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sept. 3, 2011 at the age of 46. He was born on Dec. 22, 1964 in Chewelah, the first born son of Ron and Alene Miller. Randy lived and worked in Alaska as a young man and always loved to spend time outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Randy was a logger by trade and a kid at heart. He loved his toys and smoking wild game and fish.
John âJimâ E. Stilwell met the Lord on Sept. 7, 2011 after a valiant fight through many surgeries that finally took their toll. His family was all at his bedside at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Joel Garner, 92, was born June 12, 1919 to Joel C. and MarÂ¬tina Garner. He passed away Sept. 6, 2011.
He was born in Spangle and the family moved to Colville when he was eight-years-old. He graduated from Colville High School in 1937.
Elsa May Godfrey, age 89, formerly of Northport and Spokane Valley, passed away on August 21, 2011 at Montgomery, Texas, in the home of her eldest son. Elsa was born at Glenns Ferry, Idaho, on July 31, 1922, the second child of Jefferson Franklin Midkiff and Mahala Elizabeth (Jones) Midkiff.
On Sept. 18, 1942, she married Elmer Grant Godfrey, a farmer, in Northport. After Elmerâs death in 1971, she moved to what is now Spokane Valley, where she worked many years as a cook.
Delvin Fay Hill passed away on Sept. 6, 2011 in Colville. Delvin was born in Durango, CO, on Sept. 2, 1937, the son of Norine (Garner) and Otis Hill. The family moved to Wilder, Idaho and then to Colville in 1948, where they homesteaded 160 acres on Rocky Lake. Delvin attended Colville schools and graduated in 1956. He was active in basketball and baseball.
Delvin married Sharon Parker in Colville on Oct. 7, 1960 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Phil Lee Hancock was born in Springfield, Illinois on Jan 17, 1940 to Charles and Lillian Hancock. He was the youngest of three sons and third of five siblings. Because of his brotherâs asthma condition, their family and grandparents all moved west to Arizona to a drier climate in 1943. They attended many different schools because of three rambunctious boys. One or the other was always getting expelled for one reason or another. He involuntarily joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17, where he got his GED.
