Ivy Mae (Lettenmaier) King passed away on July 12, 2014 at the age 80 at her sister's home in Springfield, OR. Ivy Mae was born July 21, 1933 to her parents, Andrew and Lillian Lettenmaier, in Sanborn, ND. She was the third of four children.
The family moved to Oregon in 1942, only to return to Valley City, ND in 1946. In January 1950 the family loaded up all the belongings they could fin in the car and moved west again to Junction City, OR.
Vernon Justus Filler was born Feb. 25, 1946, in Harvey, ND to Herbert and Antonia (Welk) Filler. He passed away on July 13, 2014 after suffering a second stroke.
His childhood years were spent on the family farm, attending elementary school in Orrin, ND. After working at various jobs in North Dakota, he came to South Dakota and learned the bakery business from his brothers. He worked in Pierre, South Dakota before relocating to Washington state.
Patricia Jean Sphuler, a lon time resident of Evans, passed away on July 18, 2014 in Spokane. She was born on Sept. 17, 1931 in Spokane, the daughter of John and Betty (King) Kroll.
Patricia attended school in Colville and graduated from Colville High School in 1949. After graduation, she began working as a secretary for the telephone company in Colville.
Leona Eliza Wimmer was born May 18,1925 to Mark and Maggie Huguenin. She grew up in the Colville area and graduated from Colville High School.
She had four brothers who all preceded her in death.
She married Don Stratton in 1943. They had three children: Dianna, Cindie and Mark. She and Don divorced in 1983 and she moved to Spokane.
She married Bill Kraft in 1990. Bill passed away in 2003. She married Bob Wimmer in 2006. They moved to Arizona for a few months, then returned to Spokane. Bob passed away in 2013.
Judy Marie Stillwell Miller passed away July 10, two days
after her 78th birthday in Everett at a Rehab center where she had spent the past six months. She was born in Richland and graduated in Colville. She managed Barneyâ€™s Restaurant & Lounge over the years and had lived in the area for the past
25 to 30 years.
Judy never had any children of her own, but you would never know; she worried and loved all of her relativeâ€™s children as if
they were her own. She loved them all.
Adygene De Paulo, a 48-year resident of the Kettle Falls/Marcus area, passed away on July 14, 2014 at the age of 89. Adygene was born on July 6, 1925 in Spur, Texas, the daughter of Walter and Teresa (Kearney) Garrett. She was raised on the family cattle ranch along with five sisters and one brother. Proud to be the daughter of a cowboy, she was often found riding her beloved horse, â€śOld Red,â€ť helping with the ranch chores and cattle.
Fay was born on Jan. 13, 1931 in Spokane to John Frank Reilly and Barbara Cox Reilly. His first school was Glenora, south of Spokane. In the second grade, the family moved to Williams Valley west of Deer Park, where he attended Williams Valley School until consolidation. Fay then attended Clayton School for two years and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1948.
Helen L. (Arndt) Gleave, 91, Bowbells, ND, passed away July 5, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Mohall, North Dakota. Helen Louise Arndt was born August 19, 1922 in WeÂ¬natchee to Arthur and Lottie (Estes) Arndt. She had three brothers that helped watch out for her on the family wheat and cattle farm on Badger MounÂ¬tain above the Wenatchee Valley.
Gladys Delene Staeheli, a lifelong resident of Colville, passed away on July 1, 2014. She was born the daughter of Henry and Azalea (Loiselle) Holst on Dec. 11, 1924 in Colville. Gladys attended school in Colville and graduated from Colville High School in 1941. She met Lester Staeheli, â€śBabeâ€ť in 1942 after he was discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces and the couple married in April 1945.
Gladys worked in Colville at Seattle-First National Bank as a Loan Officer, and also volunteered her time working for the Historical Society in Colville.
Thelma V. Floener, a 52-year resident of Colville, passed away June 27, 2014 at her home in Colville at the age of 74. She was born on Sept. 8, 1939 in Waterville, the daughter of Walter and Vera (Ogle) Schneider.
Thelma was raised and attended school in Waterville. She was a 1958 graduate of Waterville High School. Following high school, she moved Spokane, where she attended Kinman BusiÂness College. It was there that she met her husband to be, Larry Floener, on a blind date. They they have been together since their wedding on July 16, 1961.
