Colville annexes regional

Top-ranked Colville High rolled through the Region 6/7 volleyball tournament at Chelan last Saturday, beating Cascade 25-15, 25-12, 25-20 and then downing Freeman (for the fourth time this season) in the regional championship, 25-21, 25-9, 25-19.
Jacy Vining had nine kills and six blocks for the Indians, and setter Leanna Carr added 27 assists in the Freeman win. In the win over Cascade, Carr had 31 assists and Benchwarmer’s Athlete of the Week, Erin Little, added 10 blocks, eight ace serves and 20 kills in the two matches.

Pietroburgo, Carpenter lead Indians to second again

Saving their best race of the season for last, Colville High School’s boy’s cross-country team ran its way to second place at the Washington State Championship Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
In what have must have felt like dĂ©jĂ  vu, the local harriers, led by senior Biagio Pietroburgo’s fifth place and Kevin Carpenter’s 8th place finish, annexed the runner-up spot behind Northeast A League rival Lakeside. It was Colville’s second straight runner-up finish at Pasco.
