Colville All-Stars second

August 4, 2011

The Colville 11-year-old All-Star baseball team recently took second place in the consolation bracket at the 11-team Orofino, Idaho tournament. The team’s final tournament of the summer will be this weekend at the annual Rendezvous Tournament (Bob Haney Memorial Tournament) in Colville. All the right (beginner's) moves

Budding local soccer stars as young as age three participated in the Colville United Soccer Club-sponsored camp for children ages pre-kindergarten through age 12 on the Colville High School soccer pitch last week. The camp raised funds for traveling soccer teams of boys and girls ages 8-18. In photos youngsters run through the camp drills, led by Colville High School soccer coaches Dave Rarrick and Keith Goodwin.

Editor’s note: This is the second in a nearly year-long series of stories and sweat-laden vignettes chronicling the training regimen, pitfalls and pratfalls of two Statesman-Examiner reporters and their teammate. The intrepid trio plans to compete in all three increments of next July’s Valley Girl mini-triathlon at Liberty Lake (Spokane Valley).
