Chandler Knight leads
in Tacoma
Colville High went into last Friday and Saturdayâs Mat Classic XXIV on a roll. The Indians, on successive weeks, had annexed the Northeast A and District titles and captured their first regional crown.
Expectations were high in the Colville camp that the Indians could finish in the top three or four among 1A elite in the Tacoma Dome.
Colville boys eliminate Freeman at Chelan
In a game more reminiscent of a backyard brawl or a rough around the edges Australian Rules Football scrum on roller derby skates, Colville Highâs boys led wire to wire to register a 54-47 Bi-District winner-to-regionals/loser-out win Saturday afternoon over Freeman at Chelan Community Gymnasium.
The win for Colville (15-11) was the first this season in four tries over Northeast A League and District 7 1A champion Freeman (15-9).

The Jenkins High wrestling team will be moving five wrestÂlers on to Mat Classic XXIV this week in Tacoma after a sucÂcessful regional tournament at Colville High School last SatÂurday.
As a team, Chewelah finÂished sixth in the 12 team tourÂnament and after their ifth place showing in the six-team Northeast A League District tournament, coach Patrick Mitchell was very pleased.
âIt was the best tournament we wrestled as a team all year,â Mitchell said.
KFHS junior
finishes fourth
Kettle Falls High standout Tyler Vining will represent the Bulldogs at Friday and Saturdayâs Mat Classic XXIV in the Tacoma Dome.
The KFHS junior will open his tournament on Friday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m. in a first round match-up with Michael Siperly of Adna. A win would draw a quarterfinal match-up Friday evening at about 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Darrin Springs (Darrington) vs. Austin Reisdorph (Pomeroy) opener.
Vining led the KFHS contingent at the 1B/2B regional at Kittitas High School last weekend with a fourth place finish.
Valley Christian sends NHS to loser-bracket
Northport High (18-4) will face Cusick (10-12) in a District 7 1B boyâs loser-out game Wednesday at Deer Park High School. Game time is 5 p.m.
The Mustangs, who dropped a 59-37 decision to third-ranked Valley Christian (19-2) last Saturday night at Deer Park High School, will play Cusick for the fourth time this season.
Northport is 3-0 against the Panthers to date, but if the first three encounters with their Panorama League rivals havenât necessarily been buzzer-beaters, theyâve been close.
Colville heads
to Chelan
Colville High built a big early lead and cruised to a 44-26 win over Newport to annex the District 7 1A girlâs basketball championship last Friday night at Mead High School.
Behind Ashley Knightâs 28 points and 12 rebounds, the Indians (16-6) advanced to the title game with a 51-36 win last Wednesday over Lakeside in the opening round of District play.
CHS advances as District 7âs top seed to this weekâs Bi-District 6-7 Tournament at Chelan High School and the Chelan Community Center.

Indians will send a record 11 to âClassicâ
Colville High will send a record 11 wrestlers to Friday and Saturdayâs state all-divisions Mat Classic XXIV spectacular in the Tacoma Dome after annexing the East Region 1A championship last Saturday at Colville High School.
In front of a packed house in the CHS gymnasium, the Indians were able to crown three champions among the Northeast A and Caribou-Trail League teams in attendance: Jesse Morrison (120), Trenton Welton (126) and Chandler Knight (170).

Regional next at Kittitas
Kettle Falls High will send its full compliment of wrestlers to the 2B/1B regional wrestling tournament at Kittitas High School Friday and Saturday. Wrestling will get underway at 3 p.m. on Friday and at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Five of Kettleâs seven wrestlers earned medals at last Saturdayâs 2B/1B sub-regional tournament at Lake Roosevelt High School.
âWe will send all of our wrestlers to the next level of competition,â KFHS head coach Joe Kerns said. âFive of seven earned medals.â
Brons enjoying first season of college basketball
Former Colville High School basketball standout Jorden Brons is heading into the home stretch of her first season of college basketball with the Community Colleges of Spokane (Spokane Falls Community College).
The 5-6 freshman guard at CCS has enjoyed her experiences on and off the court playing for the Sasquatch (6-13, 1-6), who held off Wenatchee Valley (7-13, 2-6) Saturday in Wenatchee. Brons scored four points in the win.
The Colville High School Equestrian Team is preparing for three district meets in Wenatchee and Moses Lake.
Twelve riders have been practicing at Slide Creek Arena in preparation for competition and performance, cattle and gaming events.
To help pay for transporting horses, the booster club will hold a Soup Supper and Auction at the Arden Community Hall on Saturday, Feb. 25, starting at 5 p.m.
A variety of soups, green salad, rolls and baked potato bar will be served for a $5 donation.
A Silent Auction, as well as live auction, will start at 6:30 p.m.
