June 27th
Four games on Friday
Colville picked up an important Junior American Legion Baseball (AA) sweep over visiting Northwest Christian last Friday at Hofstetter Park before the thunderstorms and monsoons hit.
Colville (6-0) had to come from behind to win both games.
In the opener, starter Austin Hegney pitched the first five innings and was sharp. Hegney surrendered three unearned runs in the NWC first inning, but he and Colville were solid after that in a 9-3 win.
Hegney went five innings and struck out seven to pick up the win. He issued one walk and scattered two hits.
June 13th
The Colville Tribe 18U softball team finished second at last weekendâs annual Coeur dâ Alene Crush Tournament.
The Tribe, comprised of current Colville High varsity and non-varsity players, opened the tournament on a wet Saturday with a 9-1 win over the Yakima Steelers (six innings).
On Sunday, the Tribe smashed Trail/Castlegar, B.C. 23-0 (three innings) before edging the Montana Avalanche 6-5 and getting past the Spokane Stealth 9-5 in one semifinal game.
In the championship, Colville fell to the Billings/Butte Dirt, 8-6.

Low Net of Field
A field of 41 golfers, most of them from the Chewelah Golf & Country Club, braved constant rain during Saturdayâs first round of the 2012 Chewelah Amateur Golf Tournament.
The weather was markedly better during Sundayâs final 18 holes.
Topping the field and taking home Low Gross of the Field honors was Jason Anderson of Spokane. Anderson toured the tight, tree-lined course in 147.
Chewelahâs Jack George captured Low Net of the Field honors.
Will head up clown, barrelman duties
Scott âBlazeâ Logsdon, on his first rodeo tour, will be the Rodeo Clown/Barrelman for the 71st running of the Panorama Rodeo Friday and Saturday, June 22-23 in the Northeast Washington Fairgrounds arena.
The Panorama Rodeo will be a two-day show this year. Pro-West performances will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Meeting for parents is next Monday
Colville High School cross country runner Jill Fenno is hosting a free Girlâs Run For Fun summer running camp this month for all young ladies going into the fifth and sixth grade.
The running camp serves as Fennoâs Senior Project for the incoming seniorâs 2013 graduation.
The camp will run from 9 to 11 a.m. from June 18-21. The camp will conclude with a Fun Run for all participants at 10 a.m. on June 22.
âThe camp will consist of lessons that incorporate games and running that help the girls to become their best self,â Fenno said.
Jammie Madonnaâs
Senior Project
One of the top high school catchers in Washington figured that putting on a softball skills camp for youngsters would be a great way to give backâand to satisfy her Colville High School Senior Project for 2012-2013.
Madonna, who helped lead the Indians to the cusp of a State 1A championship last month in Richland, is an All-State selection and the Northeast A Leagueâs Defensive Player of the Year. She is also the 2012 Benchwarmerâs Softball MVP.

Race entries due by mid-June
Itâs doubtful that John Olson, the originator and mastermind behind the Tiger Triathlon that will make its 22nd run next month, envisioned what the race would become in the next millennium.
Okay, on second thought, maybe Olson did envision a local sporting event that would become something of an enduring icon to the athletes that enjoy competition in increments of threeâa bracing swim in a mountain lake, a bike ride mostly downhill to Colville, topped off by a morning run around a high school and golf course.
Expansion underway
Clarkâs All-Sports owner and founder Ray Clark figured that it made perfect sense to expand on a business that has been selling boats across the country for several years now.
When Johnâs Marine Service owner John Monette decided that it was time to retire, or semi-retire, he decided to sell his well-established business across Highway 20 from the Colville Municipal Airport (192 DeGrief Road) to Clark earlier this year.
Clarkâs Marine & Motor Sports is in the process of expanding its showroom and service offerings.

John Monette admits that running a boat business all these years is something of a departure for an old farm kid.
Monette, on the cusp of his 76th birthday, recently sold his long-running Johnâs Marine Service to Ray Clark and Clarkâs All-Sports earlier this year.
It was a good move for both Colville businessmen. Clark, who has renamed the business Clarkâs Marine & Motor Sports, plans to expand on the companyâs marine division and Monette says itâs time to retire.

CHS boys, girls
finish in top 10
The Colville High boyâs and girlâs track and field teams put a cap on a very successful season last Friday and Saturday at the State 1A track and field championships at Eastern Washington Universityâs Woodward Stadium.
Highlight of the meet for the Indians was the state championship turned in by the 4x100 relay team (Mackayla McLaughlin, Malia Luu, Chelsea Phillips and Tasha Luu).
