The camp will run from 9 to 11 a.m. from June 18-21. The camp will conclude with a Fun Run for all participants at 10 a.m. on June 22.

Colville catcher hosts softball skills camp

Jammie Madonna’s
Senior Project

One of the top high school catchers in Washington figured that putting on a softball skills camp for youngsters would be a great way to give back—and to satisfy her Colville High School Senior Project for 2012-2013.
Madonna, who helped lead the Indians to the cusp of a State 1A championship last month in Richland, is an All-State selection and the Northeast A League’s Defensive Player of the Year. She is also the 2012 Benchwarmer’s Softball MVP.

22nd running of Tiger Triathlon next month

June 5, 2012

Race entries due by mid-June

It’s doubtful that John Olson, the originator and mastermind behind the Tiger Triathlon that will make its 22nd run next month, envisioned what the race would become in the next millennium.
Okay, on second thought, maybe Olson did envision a local sporting event that would become something of an enduring icon to the athletes that enjoy competition in increments of three—a bracing swim in a mountain lake, a bike ride mostly downhill to Colville, topped off by a morning run around a high school and golf course.

Clark’s All-Sports expands to buy John’s Marine Service

June 5, 2012

Expansion underway

Clark’s All-Sports owner and founder Ray Clark figured that it made perfect sense to expand on a business that has been selling boats across the country for several years now.
When John’s Marine Service owner John Monette decided that it was time to retire, or semi-retire, he decided to sell his well-established business across Highway 20 from the Colville Municipal Airport (192 DeGrief Road) to Clark earlier this year.
Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports is in the process of expanding its showroom and service offerings.

‘It’s time to retire’

John Monette sells John’s Marine Service

John Monette admits that running a boat business all these years is something of a departure for an old farm kid.
Monette, on the cusp of his 76th birthday, recently sold his long-running John’s Marine Service to Ray Clark and Clark’s All-Sports earlier this year.
It was a good move for both Colville businessmen. Clark, who has renamed the business Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports, plans to expand on the company’s marine division and Monette says it’s time to retire.

On Friday, Schnieder won both preliminary races--in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.94 and in the 300 with a time of 39.49.

Colville loses state title—barely

May 30, 2012

Connell rallies in the ninth to win

Colville came agonizingly close to capturing the school’s first state fast-pitch softball championship last Saturday afternoon at Columbia Playfield in Richland.
But like last spring, when Connell edged the Indians in the State 1A semifinals in Spokane, the Eagles broke a few more Colville hearts with a heart-stopping 4-3 championship game win in nine innings.
Close…oh, so close.
