Colville vs. DP
on Wednesday

Colville High’s road warriors otherwise referred to as the CHS wrestling team, will actually compete on the home mats for a change on Wednesday night.
The Indians, coming off an impressive win at the 16-team Cheney Invitational last Saturday, will host Deer Park in a Northeast A League dual Wednesday night. The opening match-up gets underway at 7 p.m.
Deer Park has won state championships five of the past six years and looks to be very solid again this winter.

Cougars down
ML, Colville

The Jenkins High girls’ basketball team has apparently shaken off a slow December start and has crated some momentum heading into the holidays and 2015.
Chewelah picked up a pair of Northeast A League wins last week over Medical Lake and Colville.
Head coach Tom Skok was happy with the two-win week; he traces the change in the Cougars’ play to a play late in the first quarter against Medical Lake last week.

A new press helped Colville run past host Chewelah last Friday night in the annual 395 Showdown with the Cougars. The Indians led 30-20 at halftime and used a 17-6 third quarter run to blow the game open en route to a 61-33 Northeast A League win.
It was Colville’s first win of the season against four losses.
The win came on the heels of a 57-47 loss at Deer Park back on Dec. 16.

But Cougars
have experience

The Jenkins High girl’s basketball team heads into the 2014-2015 season with a deep and experienced roster. The Cougars are ready to move up in the standings of the Northeast A League with heavy doses of athleticism and team basketball.
“Things are looking up,” said head coach Tom Skok. “Our kids are playing hard and putting in the time…it’s starting to show up on the court.”

Deer Park Invite

The Jenkins High wrestling program began its 2014 season with a new head coach (but a familiar face) and the same mission of moving as many wrestlers through district and onto state in Tacoma.
Leading the Cougars this season is longtime assistant wrestling coach and football head coach, Jim Fisk.
