Kettle Falls’ heads down NE 2B home stretch

April 27, 2012

Vining continues his solid pitching

It has been a process and a project this spring for a mostly inexperienced Kettle Falls baseball team long on youth and generally short of pitching.
The Bulldogs (5-5, 6-7) picked up a Northeast 2B (Bi-County League) doubleheader win over Springdale last Tuesday and split a non-league doubleheader with host Priest River of the Idaho Panhandle’s Intermountain League on Thursday.

Chewelah, league-leading Lakeside next

One bad half inning—that’s all that stood in the way of Colville sweeping four Northeast A League baseball games last week instead of going 3-1.
With the NEA schedule heading down the homestretch and its final week, the Indians (7-5) will face league-leading Lakeside (7-3) and second place Chewelah (6-4) this week.
CHS traveled to Chewelah on Tuesday for a single game and will head to Nine Mile Falls on Friday for a pivotal doubleheader with Lakeside (2 p.m. start).

Colville girls test Chewelah boys

April 25, 2012

Chewelah tennis had a light week last week with the girls losing 3-2 in Colville and the boys winning 3-2 and the girls falling 4-1 to Reardan High School at home in non-leagsue boys and girls tennis action.
In an unusual move against Colville, Chewelah forfeited the no. 1 and no. 2 singles matches to Colville and instead the Cougars top boy’s doubles team of Tyler Monasmith and David Vilchiz played Colville’s top singles players and one of the top Class 1A girl’s doubles tandems in the state in Liselotte Doggen and Erin Little in an entertaining and well played doubles’ match.

Kettle Falls back to full strength this week

April 25, 2012

Lady Bulldogs
face Reardan

Kettle Falls High (4-4, 5-7) hopes to be back to full strength this week. The Lady Bulldogs, who have struggled for much of the spring to date, hope that getting their regular line-up back intact will spark a KFHS team looking for a boost as the Northeast 2B League heads down its stretch run.
In their only action last week, Kettle Falls dropped a non-league doubleheader at Priest River, 21-3, 6-2.
