Agnes Evelene âGrannyâ Thompson, 85, passed away at her home, June 30, 2012 in Hunters. She was born June 6, 1927 in Rosalia to John and Minnie (Kuehl) OâHalloran.
Evelene grew up in the Rosalia/Oakdale area. She then moved north to the Marcus area and made several more moves up and down the Columbia River until 1963, when she settled in Hunters. Through the years, Evelene spent most of her time working in her gardens and or¬chards. She raised tomatoes, corn, potatoes, cherries, apricots, apples, pears and more. Be¬ing in the outdoors was her favorite way of spending time. She spent many years beautifying her piece of heaven. She had her kids and grandkids involved, putting them to work pulling weeds or whatever else needed to be done. She spent countless hours canning her fruits and vegetables, never allowing any¬thing to go to waste.
Evelene was always finding ways to help somebody, whether with her food or her positive outlook on life. She had a huge heart and would always put others first. Although she was very busy taking care of her things at home, she enjoyed trav¬eling when she had an opportunity. She was never one to pass up a garage sale and found many interesting items over the years. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Evelene is survived by her sons, James âJimâ Thomp¬son and his wife, Lola; Ronald Thompson; daughter, Della Thompson; granddaughters, Phyllis Crask, Katrina Thompson, Alicia Thompson, Bethany (Thompson) Woodall and husband, Larry; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Thomp¬son; daughter, Donna Crask; son, John R. Thompson, and by granddaughter, Evelyn Crask.
Evelene wished to be buried alongside Ben in the family plot in Cedonia.
Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
