Alan Lee Miller, age 56, passed away on Nov. 24, 2011 at his mother’s home in Chewelah after a short battle with cancer. Alan was born on Dec. 1, 1954, the son of Raymond and Doro¬thy (Neufeld) Miller in Dallas, Oregon. Upon completion of high school, he joined Local 2396, the “Pile-drivers,” and worked in bridge building and construction for over 30 years. After retirement, he purchased property north of Colville, a place he referred to as his “paradise”. Alan worked on the John Day Dam, Bonneville Dam, I-205 Bridge and on the Alsea Bridge at Waldport, OR, and other nu¬merous jobs on overpasses in the Portland, OR area that re¬quired “Piledriver” labor. His last job was revitalizing the Ross Island Bridge in Portland. Over the last four years, Alan was in the process of building rock foundation walls in preparation for the building site for the home and shop on his property. During his illness, Alan had to leave his “paradise” and live with nephew, Ken Frizzell, until the final week of his life, which he spent with his mom.Alan was preceded in death by grandparents, Isaac Neufeld and wife Katie, Nellie Guard and Walt Miller; his father, Ray¬mond, step-father, Ben Dudley, and step-sister, Sherri Frizzell.Alan is survived by his mother, Dorothy Dudley, Chewelah; sister, Judy Krantz and husband Mike, Myrtle Point, OR; neph¬ews Chris, Zeb, Caleb and Noah Krantz; aunts Mary, Martha, Ruth, Liz and Sarah, of Washington, Oregon, and California; uncle Dave Dudley, Tri Cities, and other numerous nieces and nephews.There will be no service held at Alan’s request.Please visit the online memorial and sign the guest book at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.
