Anita Wildes

July 5, 2012

Anita Marion Thelma Wildes passed away at her home in Colville on June 15, 2012 at the age of 89 after a lengthy illness. She was born to Rasmus and Nettie (Fosen) Malde in her parent’s home in Poulsbo on Oct. 19, 1922 and attended school in Poulsbo. She graduated from North Kitsap High School. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.
She married Harry Julian Wildes Jr. on August 15, 1941 at Poulsbo Lutheran Church, spending 52 years of marriage raising their children in Poulsbo and Bremerton. She retired on Lindsay Beach in Quilcene.
Anita enjoyed travel with her husband, working on Guam for seven years for the Postal Service while Harry worked in the shipyard after retiring from the Navy and then the Naval Shipyard. They enjoyed several years in Iran and Hawaii with friends Chuck and Jim Daniels.
She lost Harry to cancer in 1993 and her youngest daughter, Lonnie F. Smith, passed away in 2010.
Anita always kept her hands busy knitting or crocheting and family and friends will always treasure the many afghans, sweaters and kitchen towels she lovingly made for them over the years.
She is survived by her older sister and best friend, Alva Joyce; sister-in-law Dorothy Osmanson and husband Marvin; daughter, Annette L. Lamphere; son, Harry J. Wildes (Bud) III and his wife, Carol; son-in-law, Charles W. Smith; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand children.
A celebration of her life is planned by the family at a later time this year.
In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated by: Hospice of Spokane Tri-County Branch, P.O. Box 808, Chewelah, WA 99109.
The Hospice staff were so gracious in providing comfort and care during Anita’s last days.
