Arlene Gould

November 9, 2011

Devoted grandmother, mother, and wife, Arlene Gould passed away on Nov. 5, 2011 in Colville.
Arlene was born on June 11, 1931 in San Pedro, CA, the daughter of Jacob and Gwendolyn (Cribb) Snyder. The youngest of three girls, Arlene grew up in Bremerton. She graduated from Bremerton High School and worked various jobs after graduation, including at her family’s restaurant.
In 1966 she met her future husband, Dale Gould. They were married in 1967 and were married for 44 years. Arlene and Dale raised their family in the Bremerton area, and Arlene worked for over 20 years as a bookkeeper for several retail stores. In her later years, she enjoyed singing and performing with a group of women at her local senior center.
In 2005 Arlene and her husband moved to the Colville area. She continued to enjoy singing with her church choir and loved reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends, especially at the yearly family reunion, The Colville Campout. Arlene was an incredibly loving and dedicated mom and grandmother. She was known for spoiling her grandkids and rarely missed a school performance or soccer game. Everyone who knew her knew of her incredible devotion to her family.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Dale; her daughter, Allison Thompson (husband Scott); her grandchildren, Charlie, Cannon and Campbell; a niece, Lora McCusker, and a nephew, Robert Black. She also leaves behind special, lifelong friends, Barbara Beck and Ilene Dunagan, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Gwendolyn Snyder, and by her sisters, Bonnie Black and Shirley Gray.
A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 295 E. Dominion Avenue, Colville, at 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association.
Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.
