Bernard Bruce Cullers

May 20, 2013

Bernard Bruce Cullers, a seven-year resident of Colville, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2013 at his home. Bernard was born on November 10, 1942 in Seattle to Ivan and Verdie (McLeland) Cullers. He attended and graduated from Pendleton High School in Pendleton, OR, in 1961.
He later enlisted in the Army in 1963 and served in the National Guard until he was honorably discharged in 1968.
Bruce met and wed Rhea Cantrell on March 20, 1966 in Modesto, CA. He worked for Carnation Can and then for Silgan Container until he retired in 2005. Bruce and Rhea relocated to Colville in 2005 after Bruce’s retirement. Bruce was an animal lover and took his bull dog to shows, where he won numerous awards. He also has an AKC registered Black Lab and a Pomeranian.
Bruce could be seen all over town driving his 2006 Pontiac Solstice, but only on nice days so he could have the top down. He was a great neighbor and friend. Bruce would help anybody out, from splitting wood to snow blowing driveways. Many knew him, and if you didn’t know him personally, you knew of him. Bruce love to leave tips with crisp two dollar bills, and he also did the same thing when he went to Switzerland. The locals received an eye opener when he left them a tip.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Rhea Cullers. He is survived by his sisters; Beverly Donahue and husband Rick of Arlington, VA; Becky dement and husband Bill of Eagle, ID; Bonnie Burke and husband Jay of Vancouver, WA; niece, Amanda dement; nephews, Sean Donahue, Andrew Burke, Daniel Burke, Michael Burke; two stepsons, Tom Cantrell and Greg Cantrell, and several step grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Bernard was held at The Elks Lodge in Colville on Saturday, May 6. Please visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.
Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory was entrusted with the arrangements.
