This former emergency medical helicopter was contracted on Monday to lift a 1,200 pound air conditioning unit onto the roof of Colville High School. The move, orchestrated by crews from Divco, Inc. of Spokane, went off without a hitch. |

Ride slated for Sept. 6 from Colville
Plans are in the works for a 9-11 Memorial Ride from Colville to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Ride spokesman Paul Smith said that the Saturday, Sept. 6 ride will congregate at the Super 1 parking lot in Colville at 8 a.m. Riders will leave the parking lot for Chewelah at 8:45 a.m. The first stop will be Norski Conoco on Chewelah’s north side and just off Highway 395. Riders will be picked up there at 9:30 a.m. The next stop will be the Conoco station at Loon Lake at 10 a.m. The riders will head east across the Highway 2 cut-across and to Newport. More riders will join the entourage at the Newport Safeway Store at 11 a.m. The group will depart from Newport at 11:30 a.m., heading south on Highway 41 through Spirit Lake, Idaho and to Rathdrum, Idaho before heading into Coeur d’ Alene. “We’ll ride through town on the old highway to the boat ramp area at the end of the road,” Smith said, adding that there will be a short memorial at the end of the ride before motorcyclists head back “at their own leisure.” For more information, contact Smith at (509) 684-6589. |
