Border Patrol busts drug smugglers

June 14, 2011

CBP Spokane Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two drug smugglers and seized approximately 159 pounds of the “designer” drug Ecstasy on Friday near Colville.
“This narcotics interdiction and seizure was a result of good coordinated tactical planning and utilization of advanced detection & surveillance technology used by Border Patrol agents in the field,” explained Spokane Border Patrol Sector Chief, Gloria Chavez.
Agents were alerted to the smugglers’ entry and encountered two subjects with multiple backpacks shortly after crossing the border illegally from Canada into the United States, Chavez said.
Agents arrested the suspected smugglers as they attempted to conceal themselves in the brush near a trail head south of the U.S./Canadian Border.
