John âBudâ Junior Martin, age 87, passed away on Oct. 27, 2013 in Colville. John was born on March 15, 1926 in Gifford, the son of John and Marie (Gregerson) Martin.
John was raised and attended school in Gifford and Hunters. He graduated in 1946. He married Bertie Tayloe on May 27, 1951 and together they moved to Everett, where he was employed at Boeing. Later, they returned to Colville and John began working at the Dallas Garage as a mechanic. With his experience in mechanics, he transferred to Colville Valley Concrete and later to Chopotâs Lumber Company.
John completed his working career at Colmac Industries, where he retired in 1992. John began a relaxing retirement, mostly in the outdoors, on the hunt for mushrooms or picking huckleberries.
John was an avid stock car racer at local tracks and spent many hours building up several cars. He had a deep love for his family and included them in many of the local racing events. Bud and Bertie were avid NASCAR fans and followed their favorites. They spent many hours on hard benches watching their grandchildrenâs sporting events. Bud also enjoyed a beautiful day carving the snow on his snowmobile. Throughout the years, he would take time in the fall, hunting for grouse and deer.
Johnâs family will never forget the great love that he showed to them or the memories he left in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie; his parents; grandson, Shawn Martin.
