Soccer team gets DP, West Valley

A young Colville High School girl’s soccer team faces a busy week with Great Northern League match-ups against Deer Park on Tuesday and West Valley at home on Thursday. Both matches are scheduled for 4 p.m. starts.
The Indians (2-2) are coming off a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of GNL powerhouse Cheney last Thursday on the Colville pitch.
In that match, Colville simply got very few scoring opportunities against the Blackhawks.
“We were pretty timid taking shots,” conceded CHS head coach Dave Rarrick. “We were inconsistent…Cheney got their first two goals within the first three-minutes. All their scores were in spurts.

“We played them tough in the last 32-minutes and were able to finish strong.”
In an entertaining 2-1 win back on Sept. 11 at home against former GNL rival and new Northeast A League member Medical Lake, Colville struck early and was able to maintain a cushion throughout.
Dakota Blain and Danni Rogne scored goals for CHS.
Keeper Kayla Howes had 13 saves for the Indians.
Colville got 21 shots on goal to Medical Lake’s 14.
“That was a good game,” Rarrick figured. “We had pretty good possession and got a lot of good chances (to score).”
Rarrick said he was impressed with his girls and how well they handled ML’s pressure in the match’s final five-minutes.
“They put a press on us the last five-minutes,” Rarrick said. “I thought we responded well to that.”
Colville opened the season with a 7-1 rout of Priest River. In that match-up, Colville’s Dakota Blain scored three second half goals.

Malia Luu got the scoring started off an assist from Tora Luu. Tora scored the Indians’ second goal on an assist from McKenna Cabbage, who scored Colville’s third goal. Rogne scored before Blain turned in her second half trifecta.
Colville took advantage of a season-high (to date) 26 shots. Priest River managed only five shots on goal.
Colville got goals from Blain and Tora Luu in a 7-2 loss to Lakeland of the Idaho Border League.
