Carolyn J. Matney Sell
Our loving mother and grandmother, Caroline J. Matney Sell, suffered a sudden aneurysm and went to be with her Lord on March 3, 2013. She was born on January 9, 1939 in Colville to Lloyd and Irene Matney. Our mother was a graduate of Kettle Falls High School and then married our father, Bill Flugel, on March 30, 1957. They had two children, Carla and Jake. Carolyn was a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Colville area. She later completed her four-year degree in accounting from Eastern Washington University and became a financial planner and investment manager. Carolyn remarried in 1975 to Harley Sell and they divorced in 1985. She then moved to Clarkston to be closer to her grandchildren and worked as a financial investment manager. Upon retirement, Carolyn relocated to Spokane. Mother was an independent and self-sufficient lady. She traveled the world, including Europe, and published two books in genealogy with a third volume in progress. Carolyn enjoyed bowling, golf, cards and dancing. Our mother and grandmother’s life passion was genealogy and her family. Mother was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank Matney and her sister Edie Eckman. She is survived by her children, Carla Jensen and husband Dan, Jake Flugel and Jan and former daughter-in-law Tami Campbell; grandchildren Scott Jensen and wife Amber, Steve Jensen and wife Brenna, Jessica Jensen, Jennifer Jensen, Michael Flugel and wife Jeannie, Scott Campbell and Ryan Campbell; four great grandchildren, Hank and Wyatt Jensen, Jackson Flugel and Teagen Campbell. The service for Carolyn was held on March 8, 2013 at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. The graveside service and vault interment followed at Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls where she was laid to rest beside her parents. Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory was entrusted with the arrangements.
