CHS doubles team ousted early in Seattle

Colville High’s entry into the State 2A tennis tournament last Friday and Saturday at the Nordstrom Center on the University of Washington campus in Seattle was a short-lived affair.
The Indians’ entry to the State tournament, the doubles team of Hannah Greene and Mariah O’Brien, was eliminated after a pair of losses.
Greene/O’Brien fell to their opposition from West Valley (Yakima), 0-6, 0-6, then were eliminated by a Kingston duo, 3-6, 6-7(5-7).
“The girls played well and gave it everything they had in the second set,” CHS head coach Phil Johnson said of the loss to Kingston.
Johnson said that O’Brien and Greene played in the “toughest doubles tournament I have seen in the last 15 years.”
Johnson said that even the unbeaten Pullman doubles team didn’t place.
“They lost in the first round, won a match, then lost,” Johnson said.
Colville will move into the Northeast A League next spring.
