Clyde E. Duffield (Duff), 81, a resident of Buckeye, Arizona, died Sept. 6, 2012. Duff was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 25, 1931, the son of Ansel and Glenna Duffield. He learned at an early age to be independent and responsible. His father died when Duff was 5 1/2-years old, leaving him to be the man of the family. Duff graduated in 1949 from Keenesburg High School (Keenesburg, CO). He served in the US Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer, parachute rigger. In 1955, Duff married Amy Dralle. A son, Dale, was born in 1959, and a daughter, Julie, in 1962. Clyde learned carpentry and cabinet making from his cousin, Lewis Pricer, and was known for his beautiful work. Clyde and Amy made their home in numerous places, and they never lacked work. Duff was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in 1996. He went through radiation, chemo, and a stem cell transplant. He had numerous bouts throughout the years, ending with asbestosis of the lung in 2012. Duff liked music, dancing, and loved to travel. His most memorable trips were to Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and a cruise through the Panama Canal. Duff had a special relationship with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Ansel and Glenna, and by a sister, Dolly. Clyde is survived by his wife, Amy, Buckeye, AZ; his son Dale and partner Clara Riggs, grand-daughter Kelsea; grandson Tucker, Burlington; his daughter Julie (Robert) Beeck; grand-daughters Corrine Beeck; Danielle Evans (Chad), Buckeye, AZ; two sisters, and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. A celebration of life potluck will be held on Sept. 30, 2 p.m., at McLean Fire Hall, Mount Vernon.
