The Colville Junior Legion AA season is underway and Colville has gotten off to a fast start, going 5-2 in the first three weeks of the season.
Last weekend was a busy one for Colville. On Friday, the Indians hosted Medical Lake and jumped out to an early 5-2 lead, holding on to record a 7-6 win.
Skyler Lindquist picked up the win, while Colton Vining got the save.
On Sunday, Colville traveled to Cheney and was swept in the doubleheader, 7-6 and 16-0.
In game one, Colville played well, jumping out to a 6-1 lead after the top of the fourth, but starting pitcher Ben Knight, a senior-to-be at Colville High School, couldnât hold Cheney down.
Cheney nicked Knight for six runs in the second half of the game, with the game winner coming in the bottom of the seventh inning for Cheney.
Knight took the complete game loss, while Audie Rains had a pair of hits and incoming CHS senior Journy Young doubled to lead Colville at the plate.
In game two, Cheney jumped all over pitchers Justin Dragovich and Colton Vining, piling on 16 runs on 15 hits, while Colville was held to a lone single by Young.
A busy weekend awaits Colville. On Friday, the Indians travel to Medical Lake for a single game at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Colville will host Central Valley. On Sunday, Colville will play host to East Valley for back-to-back double headers scheduled to start at noon and 2 p.m. both days.
