Colville Boy's Track and Field, coached by Randy Stebbins is 3-1-0 in League and overall 3-2-0. Colville girls Track and Field is 2-3-0 in League and overall 2-3-0. The Indians qualified seven athletes to compete in the 1A State Meet May 26-27.

The CHS Track and Field team competed in the state-qualifying district track meet on Friday and Saturday at Riverside. The top two athletes in each event and any other athletes making a state qualifying time, distance or height qualified for State.

Standout thrower, senior Josie Cox, qualified in both the shot put and the discus.

She threw the shot 33'6" to take second place and she won the discus with a throw of 120'.

Coach Stebbins said "Josie has had an outstanding career. We are looking for some great results at state."

The boys' 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Noah Bagley, Alden Lounsbury, Joey Culverwell and Kam Strobel, qualified for state finished in fourth place but hit a state qualifying time of 44.33.

Joey Culverwell ran a huge personal best to get into second place in the 400 meter dash.

"Joey ran a great race and took a lot of time off his previous best time,” said Stebbins. “If he runs like that at state, he has a good chance to be a state medalist."

Jakob Larson won both the pole vault at 13' and the triple jump with a jump of 41'3" to qualify to state in both events.

Strobel, besides qualifying with the relay team, will head for state in the long jump after winning with a leap of 20'5" and in the triple jump, finishing second to Larson with a jump of 40'10".

“Both Larson and Strobel could do very well at state in the horizontal jumps."
