Colville swimmers prep for 40th Colville Invite

June 19, 2014

Big meet will
be June 28-29

The Colville Valley Swim Club is in the midst of its annual summer season of swimming in the British Columbia Summer Swimming Association circuit (divided into eight regions: Vancouver and District, Vancouver Island, Fraser South, Simon Fraser, Fraser Valley, Cariboo, Okanogan and Kootenays). The Colville-based team, a member of the Kootenay region, is the only U.S. squad in the league.
The club will host its 40th annual swim meet at the Colville Municipal Pool and adjacent Colville City Park June 28-29.
The invitational annually draws several hundred Kootenay region swimmers and their families to Colville and the park. The long weekend held around the swim meet is the only time the city of Colville allows camping in the park.
The local club got the season underway at Nelson, B.C. The next meet will be June 21-22 at Creston, B.C.
After the Colville Invitational June 28-29, the team will head to Castlegar July 12-13 and to scenic Kimberley, B.C. July 26-27.
The regional meet will be held at the Trail, B.C. Aquatic Center August 2-3.
