The Institute for Extended Learning Colville center, also known as the Colville Community College, will be offering non-credit classes this winter on a variety of skill-boosting topics from computer literacy and rug making to Japanese and gardening.

The classes offered during Jan., Feb. and March are mostly on night and weekends and range from $11 to $70, depending on the subject and the length of the class. The Colville IEL is a branch of the Community Colleges of Spokane and offers regular credit classes during the day along with its non-credit offerings.

Colville IEL Center Manager Donna Jo Smith said the non-credit classes are developed in response to community requests and interests.
“People come in with an idea of a class they want to offer or need to have happen and we do our best to respond to that,” she said. “We are filling a need by giving people the opportunity to learn a new skill or to boost the skills they already have. We have so many wonderfully talented people in this area that teach the classes that it is a real opportunity to learn and share information.”

The upcoming winter non-credit classes at the Colville IEL are offered this Jan., Feb. and March. To register for the classes listed below, contact the Colville IEL at 685-2120 or 1-800-276-8040. The Colville IEL is located at 985 S. Elm St. and is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
