Cora Morrison

June 12, 2014

Cora (Watson) Morrison, 78, spent nearly her whole life in Stevens County. She was born near Biarly on Bear Creek in what is now the Little Pend Oreille Wildlife Refuge. Except for a year or two in Missouri after her graduaÂŹtion from Colville High School, and seven years at Mondovi near Davenport, Cora called the Stevens County area her home.
Cora loved animals and all kinds of people. She led an active life, gardening, horseback riding with friends, fishÂŹing, and in her last years, taking ATV trips with her husband, Darrel. During the last 16 years of their life together, the couple spent several months each winter in Yuma,AZ.
Cora is survived by her husband of 57 years, Darrel Morrison; daughter, Marcy Yates and son-in-law Richard; brother, Don (Donna) Watson; and sisters Carol Watson and Lavonna (Robert) Bemis; along with nieces, nephews, cous¬ins, numerous friends and an assortment of “acquired” family.
Preceding Cora in death were her parents, Tom and EÂŹlah Watson; brother, Thomas K. Watson, Jr., and sisters Bernice Godbey and Betty Allison.
Cheerful and trying to maintain her independence to the end, Cora was taken from us many years too soon. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m., at the White Lake Grange near Colville (located on Highway 20 East). Please go online to www.danekasfuneralchapel.com and sign the guestbook.
