Dale Fortune

Dale K. Fortune, a 58-year resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on Dec. 29, 2011 at the age of 84. He was born Sept. 7, 1927 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and graduated from high school in Lewistown, Montana in 1945.
He married Shirley Hill on April 9, 1948. Together they raised four boys near Kettle Falls.
Dale worked for the Department of Natural Resources and later as a building contractor until retiring in 1988, after which he managed their timber land.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sisters, Jeane and Faye, Montana; sons, Karl and wife Wanda, Kodiak, AK; Dennis and wife Debbie, Pasco; Cecil and wife Donna, Kettle Falls; and Bruce and wife Audrey, also of Kettle Falls.
Dale in also survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by is father, Cecil, by his mother, Leah Fern and by a brother Roy.
Dale will be especially remembered for his inquiring mind and love of nature and family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 28 at Colville Junior High School, 990 South Cedar.
